This US Airforce C40 aircraft landed this morning at Maun Airport ferrying some senior officials of the US government. The delagation, said to be on official duty was whisked off to the Okavango Delta into some camps. The C-40 is said to provide safe and comfortable transportation for US leaders to locations around the world. These include members of cabinet and Congress.

CCP COMES TO AN END IN UNGAZETTED SETTLEMENTS.

Residents of Bojanala ward which consists of all ungazetted settlements were not amused with the announcement that the government has changed the implementation mode for Constituency Community Project (CCP). Through program the government disbursed 10 million p**a in each Constituency for development purposes.

When adressing a kgotla meeting in Xaxaba on Tuesday this week, councillor for Bojanala ward, Luke Motlaleselelo has explained to residents that CCP will focus on the development of village internal roads for the facilitation of ease of doing business and make village an alternative investment locations.

Motlaleselelo decried that this means no further development in their ward( Bojanala) as it consists of settlements which are not gazetted such as Xaxaba, Ditshiping, Daunara and Quqao.

He added that most of development in those areas were done through CPP as it is the only model to benefit ungazetted settlements.

He decried that the government cannot initiate any development because the ward is not gazetted even basic necessity such as provision of portable water, education and good health to the people of Bojanala.

He also bemoaned that the announcement came at the wrong time when they expected more development to take place through CCP.

We urge you to attend a workshop or training (thuto seka dipuisano) on Wednesday 8th February 2023 at the tution Centre.HGAT offices.

This workshop or training calls out for all registered and non- registered Out of School Youth.

The training starts at 9am to 12noon,please be on time.Botswana Open University (BoU) will be sharing the requirements and regulations of re- writing exams ,registration fees and all related issues around the Examinations.

This aircraft, currently sitting on the apron at Maun International Airport landed yesterday and is said to have brought in more than 58 (tourists) who are members of global organisation YPO - an international leadership community of extra ordinary chief executives. The group is said to be in the Delta at 3 safari camps for three nights before leaving Maun for another African country. YPO members aim to improve lives, businesses and the world. Thuneya cultural group was engaged to welcome and entertain the group at Maun International Airport.

APPLICATION FOR PROFESSIONAL HUNTER/SPECIALIST- POLER/PROFESSIONAL GUIDE LICENSE

Applications are invited from both Botswana citizens and non-citizens to write Professional Hunter or Professional Guide or Specialist License Examinations to be conducted in MAUN at Botswana Wildlife Training Institute from the 22nd – 23rd March 2023. Applicants must submit personally signed and dated application letters indicating the category applied for.

1. Professional Guides or Professional Hunters Examination -

Citizen Requirements

1.1 Applicant must
• Be 18 years and above.
• Have a minimum of BGCSE or Cambridge Overseas School Certificate (COSC) or equivalent.
• Submit certified copies of certificates.
• Submit two (2) different references stating guiding / hunting experience.
• Submit a Certified copy of Omang.
• Submit a certified copy of Class B driver’s license
• Submit proof of Weapon Handling experience if applying for Professional Hunters Examination.

1.2 Experience: This is a direct entry level and one (1) year field experience OR Certificate from BQA accredited Guides/Hunters Training Institutions will be an added advantage.

2. Professional Guides/Hunters Examination– Upgrading (Citizen Requirements)

2.1 Applicant must

• Be 21 years and above.
• Submit certified copies of certificates.
• Submit three (3) different references not more than 2 years old.
• Submit a certified copy of Omang.
• Submit a certified copy of Class B driver’s license.

2.2 Experience: Have three (3) years of traceable experience as an Assistant Guide or an Assistant Hunter excluding the current year. Attach three (3) previous copies of Assistant Guide or Assistant Hunter’s licenses i.e. (2020, 2021, 2022 and license expiring in 2023 to show that you are still in practice).

3. Professional Guides/Hunters Examination - Non-Citizens requirements

3.1 Applicant must

• Be 21 years and above.
• Have a minimum of COSC or equivalent.

Which side are you on? Buffaloes or lion?

Not only are they bitter enemies but buffalo hunting is not so simple for lions. The buffalo, in fact, has an impressive size and its large curved horns inspire a certain fear since the force that it emanates when attacking is incredible. Moreover it is a very brave animal.

On game drives we often witness epic battles, and those between lions and buffaloes are certainly one of the most exciting - like this recent one in Ditshiping.

Includes: Gate fees, Poler/Guide fees, transport to and from the boat station in a 4x4 vehicle, guided walk, packed lunch, bottled water and soft drinks.

A mokoro trip will lead you through the Okavango Delta, where it neighbours the Moremi Game Reserve. In this scenic and wildlife rich area guests will be able to view various game drawn to the live-giving waters of this magnificent area.

You will move quietly through the shallow waters of the Okavango Delta in a traditional mokoro (dug-out canoe), as well as a guided walk on one of the islands before setting up a picnic lunch on the island.

Marvel at the breath-taking views before exploring more channels in the delta and learn about the amazing ecosystem, whilst soaking up the tranquillity of the area.

You will head back to the mokoro boat station late in the afternoon where your transport will be waiting for your transfer back to Maun.
