Honey badger sighting
HONEY BADGER SIGHTING
Seeing a honey badger while on safari is like seeing a ‘unicorn’ it’s a very special sighting and the team where very lucky to have seen this one during the day because it is predominantly a nocturnal animal. Honey badgers, also known as ratels, are related to skunks, otters, ferrets, and other badgers. These voracious omnivores get their name from their fondness for feeding on honey and honeybee larvae. They also eat insects, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals, as well as roots, bulbs, berries, and fruits.
Though they hunt for their own food most of the time, they’ll happily steal from other carnivores or scavenge the kills of bigger animals when the opportunity arises. Their prominent, sharp teeth, long foreclaws, and stocky build allow them to easily rip meat from bone.
Following the arrival of the flood in Boteti, we are so excited to share with you our short video of the zebra migration in full swing with hundreds of zebras gathered at the Boteti River. Our colleague Lorraine has first hand footage as she recently visited this area. She overnighted at Bush Ways Safaris' Boteti River Camp, not only was she impressed by the friendly staff, good food and best value for money accommodation but also by the amount of zebra there were, amass in front of the river. She says there were so many zebras gathered on the same drying spot of the river that they did not even notice that there was fresh water arriving on the other-side, they congregated in the same area quenching their thirst. Making for great photography and a fascinating site to see. There's no better place to see the action than the Boteti River with the arrival of the flood.

Maun has so many interesting corners. TT's favourite barber shop is only one of them :-)
Your Botswana Experience takes you to these funky and vibrant places:
Things to spot in Maun on our immersive tour
The Car Wash: Car washing is more than just a way to earn a living; it is a communal spot complete with a Barber, a semausu (tuck shop), and an outdoor restaurant. You might spot a bunch of cars under the shade and one gentleman washing off the dust, while the owners of the cars are chatting away with a plate of food in their hands. You do not have to know anyone to have a full on conversation with a stranger while you're waiting for your car to be washed and dont feel shy to join a conversation at the car wash!
To learn more about our culture, explore Maun with one of our local hosts on your next Botswana Safari www.yourbotswanaexperience.com

Safari Experience during Covid-times
Trying to manage guest expectations is super difficult during these weird and wonderful times. We thought a little clip with first hand experiences would help understand what travellers can expect in terms of health and safety protocols during their safari safari.

Savuti is alive with wildlife and we practically had the place to ourselves! For those in the fortunate position to be able to travel right now - this is a golden window. The game viewing in Chobe National Park speaks for itself. The staff at Belmond Savuti Elephant Camp were so welcoming and eager to please us. It is a true privilege to be able to travel in our backyard right now.

An incredible sighting on the Chobe River with Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero and the cherry on the top was that we practically had the Chobe Riverfront to ourselves. For those who are fortunate enough to travel right now, you can enjoy these wide open wild places to yourself along with a high probability of exclusive use of the camp and private activities by default, plus the warmest welcome and hospitality from the staff.
