Yesterday, HATAB CEO and Management joined the business community for a stakeholder engagement organized by the Ministry of Defence and Security Botswana at Royal Aria Convention Center.

The main objective of this initiative is to bring on board the business community and assist government with this noble initiative that will go a long way in making facilities, especially community service centres and ablutions customer centric and consequently improve service delivery and staff morale.

The Hospitality and Tourism Association of Botswana HATAB has called government to expedite the adoption of the UNI – VISA that will ensure that there is ease of movement of persons in Southern Africa.

This after Vice President, Slumber Tsogwane, confirmed that government will adopt the univisa moving forward, at the just ended KAZA summit in Livingstone, in Zambia.

This visa currently facilitates entry into Zambia and Zimbabwe and includes short visits to Botswana via Kazungula.

HATAB, Chief Executive Officer, Lily Rakorong said there was a consensus on the need to extend the visa’s coverage to additional countries within the conservation and the broader Southern African economic community.

HATAB CEO Ms. Lily Rakorong is among the delegates attending the first ever Kavango Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA TFCA) Heads of State Summit under the theme “Leveraging KAZA’s natural capital and cultural heritage resources as catalysts for inclusive socio-economic development of the eco-region” from 27th May- 31st May in AVANI Hotel, Livingstone Zambia.

This summit marks a major milestone as the Kavango Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area - KAZA TFCA takes stock of its progress since the establishment of the TFCA in 2011. The event will reflect on the developments in the landscape thus far including future priorities for the KAZA TFCA’s development. This be followed by a Ministerial session on 29 May 2024 and ultimately, the Summit on 31 May 2024.

Ms. Rakorong will form part of the panellist tomorrow (28th May 2024) from 1555hrs-1635hrs for Session 10 Panel discussion on Branding and marketing of KAZA; communities, culture & heritage; investments; accessibility & ease of movement; tourism offers & route development.
