Survival of the fittest, fastest or smartest?
In Botswana's Savuti region, a daring jackal attempts to steal a cheetah's fresh kill, highlighting the relentless competition for food in the wild. Known for their resourcefulness, jackals are expert scavengers, often taking advantage of predators like cheetahs, which must eat quickly to avoid losing their catch. For cheetahs, the fastest land animals, the true challenge lies not only in the hunt, but in holding onto their hard-earned catch long enough to satisfy their hunger.

With 2025 on the horizon, a world of new possibilities awaits. Yet, with every step we move forward, we must honour the lessons, history and—at our Tsodilo Hills Sleep-Out Camp—the ancestors of Botswana’s oldest custodians, the San people. Connect the past with the uninterrupted present as we guide you through this UNESCO World Heritage Site alongside local experts, preserving the culture of this ancient, deeply spiritual place. Visit the Hills to see rock art or hike the Male Hill, then gather around a fire under a blanket of stars to hear generational stories and witness age-old traditions, such as an interpretation of the sacred “trance dance”. When it’s time to rest, our traditionally designed Sleep-Out Pods offer a peaceful retreat.
Stay three nights or more at Nxamaseri Island Lodge and this overnight journey is included (booking-dependent). For added value, privacy and complete exclusivity, book this expedition as an Epic Experience (Our Epic Experiences comprise a collection of tailormade, customisable packages for specialist travel and mind-blowing adventures).

A suspiciously placid hello or has this old croc lost its edge?🐊
This curious encounter is a mix of a close call and a far cry, captured at Leroo La Tau, where the Boteti River draws wildlife right to our doorstep. As the wait for rain continues, this vital water source becomes a hot commodity for resident and roaming wildlife alike. Our photographic hide brings you closer to the action!

"Savuti was an experience to remember. The recently renovated tents were absolutely beautiful, and the views from the verandah of the animals at the waterhole were amazing. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The morning safaris were incredible—we saw lions, leopards, mongooses, many varieties of antelope, and of course, giraffes and elephants. Our guide, KT, was knowledgeable and eager to ensure we saw as much wildlife as possible. Evenings by the fire, along with the dancing and singing of the staff, were a beautiful touch—we all danced! The roar of the lions during the night and the rumbling of the elephants were also sounds we will never forget! The food and beverages were of the highest quality. Botswana is simply dazzling in so many ways."

The chance to witness magic in nature is evergreen. Sometimes, a sighting is strikingly clear, like wild dogs hunting, or a leopard climbing a tree. But often, there are hidden treasures right before our eyes, brought to life by the expertise of our guides. This unusual find of a migratory carmine bee-eater taking a ride on the back of our national bird, a resident kori bustard, brings to light the joy of uncovering the unexpected.
