On Wednesday we celebrated the 100 Years of excavations at site of Xunantunich. To commemorate this event in collaboration with Dr. Jamie Awe, Cayo Tour Guide Association, and other local tour guide associations a series of lectures were presented on the history of archaeological work at the site. Thank you to everyone Dr. Jamie Awe, Dr. Kathryn Brown, Mr. Christophe and Mr. Douglas Tilden, for your hard work dedication and taking the time to present to us the tour guides.

Members of the CTGA Archaeology travel Club visited the ancient Maya cities of Naranjo and Nakum, both located in the Peten basin region in Guatemala. Naranjo is known for its unique polychrome high quality ceramics, most notably the Jauncy Vase found in Buena Vista Del Cayo, Belize. It is also known as the home of a woman ruler, Wak Chanil Ajaw 'Lady Six Sky.' Nakum has large well preserved architecture with original plaster and paint. Its central acropolis is truly impressive. It sits on a very large raised platform with 10 plazas and is comprised of residential and temple buildings.
We, the tour guides, thank the president Jorge De Leon for arranging this trip and doing all the driving. We also thank Mr. Victor Lopez, our local guide who had worked many years on archaeological excavations at these very sites. Thank you for taking time out and sharing a wealth of knowledge with us.

Yesterday was an absolute treat. Tour guides of the CTGA went to Caracol where Arlen Chase, PhD, and Adrian Chase, PhD, archeologists of the site, had prepared an excellent presentation for the guides. The tour guides were also invited to see the current dig site in the nearby outskirts of the ancient city.

🍃It's Wild Wonder Wednesday! A rare creature in the Chiquibul, the forest rabbit or forest cottontail (scientifically known as Sylvilagus brasiliensis truei), was documented by one of our wildlife camera traps. Referred to as Tapeti in general, this species encompasses a remarkable 37 subspecies. The truei subspecies inhabit the regions ranging from Panama to Mexico. Have you had the opportunity to spot one in the wild?🌿
