I have always had a dream to be able to travel the world and experience all of the wonderful sights and learn about different cultures. Thankfully I have been fortunate enough to start my journey. From a young child we had family vacations each year exploring different parts of Canada and parts of the United States. As I grew older and became more independent, I started to broaden my horizons when

it came to destinations. I love all types of travel. Exploring our "backyard" with hiking and camping trips to Canada's Rocky Mountains, Cruising the sea and getting a glimpse at what a destination has to offer, setting up home base in a large city and exploring the city and its surrounding communities all have their own special appeal. My other passion is animals and my husband and I are the proud guardians of two amazing American Pitbull Terriers who have taught both of us so much about unconditional love and breaking down stereotypes. We love to include them on our vacations whenever we can and so they get to come camping with us and love when we take them to hotels that truly cater to pets. I hope that this page assists you in even the smallest way to discover or enrich your passion for travel and exploring things that are different from your daily life. It was my pleasure to welcome a wonderful group yesterday to Huatulco to learn about the traditions and to celebrate Día de Los Mu***os.

Our day started with some shopping in downtown la Crucecita before retreating to the refreshing pools and ocean at Secrets Huatulco Resort & Spa for the afternoon.

In the evening we hopped on board a van to take us to Santa Maria Huatulco where we were hosted at our guides family home to learn about the traditions and what goes into making the ofrenda.

Next we were treated with typical food shared during this time; tamales, pan mu**to (dead bread), and hot chocolate.

Finally we made our way to the cemetery with flowers, candy and candles in hand. Our guide took us into the cemetery where we learned more about the beliefs of these days and how the tombs are decorated and why. We were able to leave candles and flowers on tombs that had no family with them and talk to families and learn their stories. It was an honor to be included in their celebration of their loved ones. A HUGE thank you to Gran Turismo Huatulco for organizing a fabulous evening for us!

Today, everyone is headed out on ATVs to a secret swimming hole at the river and tomorrow we head out on a boat to explore some of the hidden beaches and spot turtles, dolphins and maybe even some whales!

Happy Kings Day!!! Today January 6th is 3 Kings Day and in Mexico, that means that everyone is busy with the last Christmas celebration, buying or preparing for Roscas de Reyes. The Christian holiday of Epiphany marks the day when the three wise men arrived in Bethlehem to meet the baby Jesus. In Mexico (and other parts of Latin America), the holiday is celebrated nationwide – regardless of religion – with Rosca de Reyes, a day on which Christmas traditions continue to be celebrated surrounded by our loved ones. The celebration of Día de Reyes (short for Día de Los Reyes Magos) on January 6th dates back to Catholicism in Spain, reaching Latin America in the early years of evangelization in the New World. The custom is that children write a letter to ask the Three Wise Men, Melchor, Gaspar, and Baltazar, for the toys they would like (similar to Santa Claus). On the eve of the celebration (January 5th at night), the little ones leave a shoe with a bit of grass and twigs next to the window or under the Christmas tree to feed the animals that would bring the Santos Reyes (another name for the Three Wise Men). Full of curiosity, the following day, the children get up early to find that the food has disappeared, and the shoes are now filled with toys or sweets. Another Three Kings Day custom is to gather to cut the rosca. Friends and/or family are usually invited, and each must take a turn to slice their portion of this sweet bread. Inside the bread, there are one or several small figurines (plastic representations of the Child Jesus). The person who finds it has to offer a party with tamales and atole, on February 2nd, Día de la Candelaria (Candlemas Day).
