"Why aren't you out chasing these last couple weeks?!"

This kind of cold can kill you pretty quickly. We have been enjoying the warm fireplace during this cold, editing old photos!

Hanging out in a cave under the Northern Lights! 🌌 On nights when the aurora is going wild, this is my little hideaway—tucked into the cave, sheltered from the wind, and soaking in the magic above. ✨

Let’s just hope the only thing sharing this space with me is the echo of the lights… and not a bear looking for a roommate! 🐻😅

Looking up into Manitoba’s dark skies, it’s impossible not to feel completely in awe. 🌌✨ This shot was captured at Duck Mountain Provincial Park, where the stars shine brighter than ever. You can see the Milky Way galaxy stretching across the night sky, and if you look closely, you’ll spot Andromeda glowing like a distant jewel. 🌠

A massive cinnamon roll in the sky, right over Paint Lake Provincial Park, Manitoba! 🌌 The northern lights put on a show like no other, swirling and dancing above us all night long. And guess what? This incredible view was right from the cozy comfort of our yurt—nature's front-row seat! 🛖✨

Looking South at the Milky, then turning around to look North!

On this night we were fully focused on photographing the Milky Way. and I had our equipment set up and shooting south for a couple of hours. As we were packing up, both of us noticed an ominous glow to the North. After setting up the camera, we were shocked to see how pink the skies were!

This was taken in June, when the Sun never fully sets, creating a blue hue in the sky. Combined with red, it gave us these incredible purple/pink skies!

2024 was a year we’ll never forget. It was packed with big moments, incredible experiences, and some incredible Northern Lights!

This year, we really focused on enjoying the moment, rather than capturing every second of the night. This gave us the chance to step back and just watch the lights dance. It reminded us why we started chasing the aurora in the first place.

One of the most unforgettable moments happened in October. After months of designing a custom ring inspired by the northern lights, I proposed under a massive G4 storm. And—Jenn said yes! The aurora made that night even more magical, and it’s something we’ll cherish forever. (Social tickets available IYKYK).

The year had plenty of other highlights, too. In April, we traveled to Lake Erie to watch the solar eclipse, and in May, we experienced our first G5 aurora display.

On the personal side, we added a new member to the family early this year. Polaris, our new pup, quickly became our go-to aurora-chasing buddy. We also welcomed friends we’d met online to join us in Canada to see the aurora. Sharing those experiences with others made them even more meaningful, and we walked away with some amazing new friendships.

In the summer, we partnered with Travel Manitoba to showcase the beauty of Northern Manitoba, a place that feels like home. It was such an honor to share its incredible landscapes and skies with others.

This year taught us that sometimes the most magical moments happen when we put the cameras down and just take it all in. Thank you for being part of this journey—it means so much to us. Here’s to more unforgettable adventures in 2025!

Did you catch the Comet?! Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–ATLAS) is grazing our night skies as it’s on its way out of the Solar System. It is incredible to see with the unaided eye.
