Starting January 8, 2025, all Canadians visiting the UK will need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)—a simple, online travel permit.

Here’s what you need to know:
🔗 Apply here (official site): UK ETA Application
💷 Cost: £10 GBP (~$17 CAD)
⏳ Validity: 2 years or until your passport expires
📋 Important: You must apply before your flight. While approval isn’t always required at check-in, some airlines may enforce it—better safe than sorry!

Pro Tip for Canadian Travelers:
📱 If using the mobile app, scan the inside back cover of your passport to read the NFC chip. Hold steady on the last page for quick results!

✅ The process is straightforward and approvals often come within minutes (ours did!).

🚨 What’s Next?
Later in 2025, Canadians traveling to Europe’s Schengen region will need a similar permit, ETIAS. Stay tuned for updates!

This is similar to the US ESTA and Australia’s e-visa system, so if you’ve done those before, this will feel familiar.
