So, who are we at reThinkRec HQ anyway? Well, back in 2011, our co-founders Cherilyn and Darren Woodhouse saw two problems. 1. Thousands of children and families were unable to participate in healthy recreational events and activities during the summer - AND - 2. Just as many tourism and recreation facilities were still struggling with the residual impact of the recession, with inflation, with rising marketing costs and falling consumer spending. Now, to anyone else, solving both problems at once would have seemed like a daunting task. But not to them. To them, it seemed the only right thing to do – to change the world as we know it into something just a little bit better. Concept after concept was dismissed, coming at too high of a cost for the founders, their clients, or the children and families they wished to help. Then finally, one hot summer day, the Give a Day program was born. Today, we’re starting it as a pilot project in Chilliwack, BC, Canada. Our aim is to bring tourism from other areas of the province into Chilliwack while sending the most deserving children and families to the recreational activities they so desperately need. Tomorrow – who knows? The entire Fraser Valley? The province? The country? Only time will tell what is in store for the future of reThink Recreation
