Old Fashioned Christmas at the museum was a ton of fun and best attended to date. A big THANK YOU to all the Museum Board members and Friends Of The Museum Society who helped make it happen. Some more pics of Charlie Ewing playing to a very appreciative audience. Best Yuletide costume ( adult & youth) was won by the Knox family hands down. Thank you also to our event sponsor Virginia Wishart CIR Realty.

Lots of fun for adults and kids at the museum this evening. Decorating Christmas cookies, candy bags, hot spiced cider and lots of home made Christmas cookies. Prizes for best costume and Charlie Ewing is entertaining from 7 - 8:40.
Gift shop & Exhibit Hall open.

Only two more days until the town comes alive with the magic of Christmas. Check out all the fun activities at the museum and around town on the posters below. Be sure to bring the kids to the museum for Christmas cookie decorating, candy bags and hot cider starting at 5:00. Enjoy some favourite tunes from well known local musician and friend of the museum, Charlie Ewing from 7 - 8:30. Gift shop and Exhibit Hall open. Prizes for best Yuletide costume (adult & youth). This year the museum is adding a display to the Christmas Cruise Drive-Thru Light Display in Centennial Park here in Claresholm. A great fundraiser for Pallative Care at $10 a car. Opens for viewing Friday Dec 6th.

Thank you Jordyn and Mike, our museum staff, for making this happen, and our public works guys for moving that heavy train into place ❤️

Santa’s Elves were very busy at the Museum today decorating for Old Fashioned Christmas Dec 6th. A big thank you to museum staff and all the volunteers from the Museum Board and Friends of the Museum Society - looks absolutely awesome!!

Although the museum is closed for the season, today we remember the brave servicemen and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedom. Our War Years exhibit houses many great artifacts and photos representing that time in our history and we share just a portion of that in this post - LEST WE FORGET.

We hosted our last tour bus of the 2024 season this morning. Wonderful folks from all over the USA. We had 22 tour bus groups this season and all a real pleasure. A huge THANK YOU!! to the members of the Friends of the Claresholm and District Museum Society who helped host all the tours. Thank you also to all the tour guides and bus drivers for promoting and supporting us❤️ Looking forward to next year!!

We are still OPEN this Saturday and Sunday 9 - 5, then closed for the season. If you’re in town visiting for the long weekend, or have friends or family visiting, come check out your museum, always something new to see.

Hard to believe it has been 15 weeks since we welcomed our summer staff Jenna and Tianna on board. Harder to believe, that in 5 short days, they both leave us to head to Edmonton to pursue their careers. Jenna to a practicum at an Edmonton Hospital and Tianna to her first year at Grant MacEwan University. If you get a chance, stop in to wish them well. Thank you Jenna, Thank you Tianna, so much, it has been a great summer ❤️

Great turn out for the Historic Homes Tour this afternoon and a wonderful gathering back in the historic CPR station at the museum for tea and home made cookies. Everyone was raving about the tour, swapping stories of their experience and looking forward to next year. Kudos to Britney and Rob Robertson and Anola Laing for organizing the tour and to all those who opened their homes. Also to Bonnie Downey, Cynthia Wannamaker, Trina Watson and Betty H***e for serving up Tea and goodies on behalf of the Friends of the Museum Society.
Lastly, thank you to all who bought tickets, enjoyed the tour and made the afternoon a success!

Alow yourself enough time to check out the exhibits in your museum and all the merchandise in the giftshop, where everything is on SALE 10% off. Then go load up with fresh produce and hand made goodies at the market.

Tickets for the Claresholm Historic Homes Tour, August 24th, are on sale now at the Museum (station) and Claresholm Local Press. See the attached poster for details and sign up to explore the history of some of Claresholm’s older homes and some of the families who lived there. Proceeds from ticket sales go to support the work of the Friends of The Claresholm Museum Society.
