Elder Larry & I, are prepping multiple wild game such as Buffalo, Moose, Elk and Deer, we have been welding tools and ensuring we are fully prepared to accommodate all students at our outdoor landbased classroom in Bragg Creek, AB

Inuit Ice Cream

"Akutaq, also known as Eskimo Ice Cream or Indian Ice Cream, is a traditional dessert of the Eskimo (Inuit) people living in the Arctic region. It is a unique type of ice cream made primarily with animal fat, often seal or salmon fat, mixed with ingredients such as cranberries, blueberries, cloudberries, currants, cane sugar, and honey.

The traditional process of making Akutaq usually starts by whipping the animal fat (such as seal fat) in a large bowl. Then, other ingredients like fruits and sugar are added and combined with the fat, mixed by hand or using traditional tools like a be**er. This process creates a smooth, creamy, and fatty mixture of ice cream.

Akutaq has a distinct flavor and is considered a part of the culinary culture and heritage of the Eskimo people. It differs from traditional ice cream made with dairy and sugar, instead showcasing the unique and characteristic elements of Eskimo cuisine. This dessert is often enjoyed during festivals and special events of the Eskimo community and has become a unique culinary experience for visitors to the Arctic region"
