As an independent travel advisor, and small business owner, it is important to have a strong team behind me. That is where The Travel Agent Next Door comes in. Helping me with tasks that would be extremely difficult completely on my own.

One provision is our annual travel conference where this year, 240 agents descended on a great resort north of Cancun to meet with over 50 suppliers and network with both colleagues and staff.

This week was full of learning. From how to counsel you better, to what is trending in the industry and how our travel partners can better serve us and ultimately you...my valued clients.

We did have some downtime with trips to other resorts, including some fantastic entertainment. I will post about those later as well.

But one thing that stood out was the giving spirit of all in attendance to not only give to a worthy cause but also visiting a local organization that helps locally in so many ways. (I wasn't chosen to go as it was limited in the number of people that could go).

Annually we have a special guest speaker and some form of entertainment, sometimes combined. Fall of 2021 was Shaun Majumder, who some of you may know. This year we had the very moving Tareq Hadhad of explain his family's story of perseverance and how he landed in Canada and became a successful entrepreneur. If you have not seen the movie or read the book, check it out.

Entertainment was capped off by the 13 year old Canadian, America's Got Talent singer. Check her out on YouTube.

I cannot say enough about the staff of the hosting resort from the servers, bartenders, butler, and especially for me, the culinary concierge. Wait for my post about this beauty of a resort.

All in all a little fun and a lot of learning, and networking was accomplished. Enjoy the photos and I'll be back with more on the resorts I visited.

If you had to choose one or the other, would you rather have a free first-class plane ticket or a free 5-star hotel room with a scenic view?

Tough choice, right? Kind of like trying to pick whether to have your honeymoon in the Caribbean or Europe when you feel like you’ve been everywhere.

I know decisions like this can be tough, that’s why one of the things I do as a travel advisor is help take the guesswork out of honeymoon planning by helping busy couples narrow down their choices and get that trip on the calendar so the countdown can start.

Another happy couple is enroute to island hop in Hawaii! 

I made sure to pack their itinerary with lots of cultural experiences, and amazing sights as per their request.

And over the next couple of weeks they’ll be enjoying a Luau, taking the Road to Hana Adventure Tour, enjoying the sights in Waikiki by hop on hop off trolley, enjoying a beautiful sunset cruise, and of course enjoying the beautiful beaches.
