Parks Canada would like to advise snowmobilers and winter users that all areas west of Highway 430 and all areas at less than 350 meters in elevation in Gros Morne National Park remain closed to snowmobiling due to inadequate snow cover. However, due to recent snowfall, areas above 350 meters in elevation will be open to snowmobiling. Please see the updated map for details on area closures.

Parks Canada would like to remind all users that snowmobilers are to stay away from areas with exposed vegetation to prevent damage to vegetation and terrain.

Snowmobiling season dates are subject to change at the discretion of Parks Canada due to factors such as, but not limited to unfavourable snow conditions, dangerous conditions, or impact to ecosystems.

For those interested in snowmobiling in the area, it's worth noting that our snow depth is below the typical level for this time of year. However, we've received positive reports from numerous sledders who have explored both the backcountry and the NLSF trail. Coyley's trail, in particular, is said to be smoother than it has been in a long time. While conditions vary across the area—Deer Lake, for example, has very little coverage—you can still set out directly from here on a snowmobile to access the trails and enjoy some fun. We have availability this weekend for anyone still considering heading this way.
