Like most families, the last few weeks have been busy with back-to-school and the new schedule that comes with it. Between the school supply shopping and the return to kids' sports, I’ve been able to photograph some amazing families in their favourite places. It’s been incredible to connect with different families and tell their stories through photographs.

I’m currently looking out my window and enjoying the first few signs of a golden, beautiful fall. The leaves are beginning to change, and while our autumn season is short, it’s spectacular. I still have availability to photograph a couple more families through this season, celebrating the fall colours and capturing the connection and love that your family shares.

I was so excited to release the Mother's Day Mini sessions I forgot a HUGE detail!!

A portion of the proceeds from each session booked will be donated to the Lurana Shelter for women experiencing domestic violence. This is an amazing place in Edmonton for some of our most vulnerable citizens. I had the experience of working with them over the past year and I can stay they truly do incredible work. My goal is to raise $500 with these session!

These sessions will take the time to capture real, honest moments of connection between mother and child. This can be any type of Mother with any age of children.

The cost of these sessions are $300 for 25 minutes together and includes 5 fully edited files of your choice from an online gallery.

While I wish there were even more newborns for me to photograph during this pandemic, I'm so happy every time I get to do what I love. One of my very favourite parts of my job is photographing and snuggling all the new babies. While there's no snuggling babies in 2021, it's still amazing to safely document a new family coming together.

Over the past few months I've photographed so many beautiful families. Every unique story interwoven together telling us the beauty that has appeared through 2020. I've photographed rainbow babies, aging grandparents, families celebrating new beginnings and saying difficult goodbyes. I've photographed the bits of amazing in-between the difficult. I've photographed the beauty and love that is your family. Life isn't always going to be like it is today. Life is moving fast whether we recognize the abundance of the present or not. The kids aren't always going to be little. The teenagers aren't always going to be difficult. I'm just here to ask you to celebrate where you are at. The good, the sad and the amazing. Life isn't always going to be like this, and it's breathtakingly beautiful.

After loosing their oldest daughter to an aggressive brain tumour, Jaime and her family welcomed their rainbow baby this spring. My studio is open! I'm back up and (almost?) running!

I also realized that many people that follow me here, don't follow me on Instagram, so it's time for a 2020 update.

Near the end of January I had an MRI to check out the tendonitis I had been experiencing over the last 18 months. There was no tendonitis. They had found a mass in my foot. They believed it to be malignant. The oncologist was straight to point, it wasn’t good news and he wanted a biopsy right away. A week later I checked into the Cross Cancer Institute for a CT guided biopsy. Here’s where the story gets really fun, awaiting biopsy results. If you’ve ever been in this situation I don’t need to explain the sheer state of panic you live in when not knowing day after day. Anxiety wondering about what the future holds. So much stress. I tried to lean into gratitude every single day, but I’m not going to lie and say it was easy. Then, we added in a pandemic, my business being forced to closed, having to homeschool the girls , and my whole life-as-i-knew-it was gone.

Over a month later and I finally had my biopsy results- but they were considered inconclusive. My oncologist decided the safest thing to do was to just remove the mass right away and then biopsy it again. I had emergency surgery and a hospital stay in the middle of the lock-down. That was an experience in itself!! They successfully removed the tumour, scraped and burred any remaining cells and filled my foot with a cement to prevent the spread.

After a second biopsy they found out I have a very rare tumour known as a "Giant Cell Tumour". They super aggressive tumours that love coming back and destroying bone. While it's not a great diagnosis, I'm very happy it wasn't the sarcoma the doctor originally thought! We have a plan to keep on top of it with regular CT scans and X-rays. I feel like I'm in great hands with my oncologist and team!

As of right now I'm tumour free and walking (very slowly!) again. My doors are open and I'd love to photograph your beautiful families this summer. After being in isolation for so long, I'm so happy we can take precautions to be safety together again. I know 2020 is a year you'll want to remember too- I'd love to document it for you.

As I realize more and more of my clients won't be getting their newborn portraits this spring, or their family portraits once the snow melts, I decided to start sharing iphonegraphy tips you can use to document your days in isolation.
