By communicating and getting to know the people who live nearby, you can recognize strangers and know when something is unusual or suspicious. We hope the Glenpark Community Association will be a big hit with residents. By working with the community, police, and Crimes Prevention Association of Toronto (CPAT), we are already seeing improvements in crime reduction. It was a pleasure having Janet S
herbanowski, Executive Director of CPAT, donate her personal time to attend our event. With over 20 years of experience in crime prevention, she mentioned that we have a “lovely community, full of young vibrant families, interested adults and a great park in which to bring it all together.” She is now setting up meetings with our local councillor and will ensure we are invited to the local ward meetings. Janet has offered to bring forward a “Democracity Project” to Glen Park. The initiative has over 180 community associations with the objective to engage residents in the decisions being made about their local communities. With the “Democracity Project,” we will have the chance to develop and add projects that we believe should take place in the community. Whether it is a dog park, traffic calming, sidewalks, or street fairs, we will all be able to collectively vote on the initiatives for Glen Park.
