Interesting read about painted vs. non-painted jig heads. My opinion is that having eyes on a jig head makes the biggest difference. I also tie with a thread colour to mimic the gills. I also have found that the colour chartreuse for some reason is my most effective colour. I agree that all paint does wear off relatively quickly if you are a bottom bouncer, However, if you fish just off the bottom, this isn't a problem. http://www.in-fisherman.com/bass/painted-jig-heads-versus-unpainted-ones/
