A Perfect Farewell to the Azores

We wrapped up our incredible Azores adventure with a gin tasting and tour at the amazing Gin Library, home to Europe’s largest collection of 1,800 bottles! Ali Bullock the owner was a wonderful host. What a fantastic way to toast an unforgettable trip—and to top it off, they had a bottle of gin from our good friends at Willibald’s Distillery in Ayr!
Lunch was enjoyed at Terras Restaurant, where we tasted one of the best desserts we’ve ever had—so good, we just had to order another!

Today, we explored the volcanic wonders of Furnas, a region shaped by geothermal activity and lush landscapes.
We also stopped at Gorreana Tea Factory, Europe’s oldest tea plantation, producing 100% organic tea since 1883.

We started the day with the breathtaking views of Sete Cidades, where the iconic twin lakes shimmered in shades of blue and green.

Next, we made our way to Lagoa do Fogo, one of the most stunning crater lakes in the Azores.

We visited Olaria Pottery where we got a firsthand look watching skilled artisans bring Azorean tradition to life, shaping and painting beautiful handcrafted pieces.

We enjoyed a fun tasting and tour at Licores Mulher de Capote, where we got to sample their delicious creations. Their signature pineapple liqueur was delicious!

Today we took a 45 min flight from Terceira to São Miguel. We started the day with a walking tour of Ponta Delgada—a city full of charm, history, and Azorean vibes.
We explored a pineapple plantation (yes, they grow them in greenhouses!) and strolled through stunning gardens then visited the statue of António Borges, the visionary behind some of the island’s most beautiful green spaces.

Our group has been loving our stay here in Terceira at the charming Azores book hotel, this adorable boutique hotel features a cosy bar with a collection of 5000 books for guest to enjoy. It’s perfectly located just a short walk to the waterfront and the town Square. One of the largest trees in the photo is dedicated to Ann Frank.

Today’s adventure took us on a walking tour through the charming streets of Angra do Heroismo the capital of Terceira. We visited the statue of Vasco da Gama, a tribute to one of the world‘s most iconic explorers, the botanical gardens and the Angrense Theater. A climb to the Alto da Memoria Obelisk, where we could look out at beautiful panoramic views over the city. Our group enjoyed an Italian dinner at Mercatto Di Osteria.

Another day in beautiful Terceira!

Our group had the opportunity to soak up the local culture-starting with a guided culture tour. We were welcomed into the lovely home of our hosts, Joe and Philomena for coffee tasting and homemade liquors. Next we visited an embroidery and pottery factory. So much local talent on display.
We wrapped up the day with a warm delicious dinner at a local restaurant the O Internacional hosted by the ever lovely welcoming Carla.

We started the day at the stunning Biscoitos natural swimming pools where volcanic rock meets the crashing waves of the Atlantic. The pools carved into the rugged lava coastline offered incredible views and a chance to see the natural hot springs bubbling and full of steam.

Next, we went underground to explore Terceira’s lava caves a tunnel like network that stretches deep beneath the island. Wandering through these ancient volcano passages gave us a fascinating glimpse of the island’s fiery origins.

What a fantastic full day tour of Terceira Island!

One of the highlights of the day was a delicious tasting of Alcatra - Terceira’s most famous dish. This traditional beef rump is slow cooked in a clay pot with red wine, onions, garlic cloves, and black peppercorn until it melts in your mouth, tender absolutely delicious.
