As forecasted, the freezing rain has arrived and ice is starting to accumulate on the trees in Barrie area. The weight this can add to the branches can be extreme, and often leads to partial, or complete failure.

In the coming days, be sure to have a quick glance upwards at your trees, to ensure that there is no hazardous hanging branches, or other damage.

All of the design work we've had done by Victoria has generated great customer response, as has this truck wrap already. Downey Tree Service has both removed, and treated many Ash trees this year as a result of the Emerald Ash Borer. We've noticed that infestations are bad in many areas in Simcoe County, and the pest can compromise the trees in as little as one year.

It may take the help of an arborist, but it is necessary to identify which trees on your property are of the Ash family. A decision should then be made on whether you would like to set up a treatment plan to protect the tree from E.A.B., or you should have the trees removed while they are still structurally sound, and it is safe for an arborist to do so.

Monitor your trees closely at the very least, and feel free to send photos of your trees leaves and bark to this account, and we can identify them for you!

Downey Tree Service is now certified and equipped to treat trees with Emerald Ash Borer.

The process that we use is very effective, and the chemical we use is one of the very few on the market to have proven effectiveness post-invasion, meaning after the pest has already infested the tree!

Unfortunately, we have removed over 50 ash trees this year already, and the signs of E.A.B. continue to worsen in Simcoe County.

It is imperative that you identify which trees on your property are ash, and make the decision to treat and save, or remove the trees while they still have some life, and structural integrity!

If they become compromised and unclimbable, other means of removal such as a crane or specialty lift, may be needed.

The pest moves quick, and it's better to be safe then sorry.

Today, Downey Tree was in Anten Mills taking on a large, multi-stem white pine in a tricky place.

We were fortunate enough to be able to get our bucket truck to the base of the tree, and had the tree safely dismantled and on the ground by the early afternoon, incident free.
