***For Immediate Release***

As previously announced, we were working to secure the best possible dates for the new NBBT Woodstock Open.

Through careful consideration and discussion with the Town of Woodstock, we are excited to announce that the inaugural NBBT Woodstock Open will be held on August 16-17, 2025, with opening ceremonies and anglers meeting to be held August 15, 2025.

We are thrilled to make this announcement and secure our place on the calendar for 2025 and beyond as we look to make the NBBT Woodstock Open one of the “Must Attend” events of the year.

This announcement allows us to finalize the NBBT schedule for 2025, with a change in format to 3, 2 day events with a focus on enhancing the tournament experience for our anglers, while still respecting their budgets and schedules throughout a busy summer season. This also allows us to offer our municipal partners a chance to showcase their towns and their fisheries like never before.

NBBT is looking forward to an exciting 2025 with many more incredible announcements yet to come.

⛔ Do you fish in the Miramichi River in New Brunswick?

Starting today, May 21 at 5pm until May 30, at 5 pm, the striped bass spawning ground will be closed to all recreational fishing.

Just like last year, the spawning ground closure will last up to 10 days. The closure area covers a 9.8 km section of river with a history of spawning activity. This is to maximize the reproductive success of striped bass.

During the spawning season, boaters are asked to navigate at reduced speeds. The Miramichi River serves as the native habitat for striped bass, with the Northwest Miramichi Estuary hosting the only confirmed successful spawning site within the southern Gulf of St. Lawrence.

We can all do our part to protect this species for present and future generations! Please report any illegal activity to the DFO Renous Detachment at 506-622-5992 or to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

See the notice to anglers for all the details, including the location of the spawning ground: https://ow.ly/BCSI50RPqXa
