Another month has come and gone & Riding Season is in full swing!!!

Tonight we gathered for our chapter meeting and had a couple celebrations! We have a newly nominated and voted in Road Captain -Sass (Lorna). She has proven over the past year to be an unmatched force in this role! It is going to be an amazing season full of adventure!

I AM MY SISTER’S KEEPER
Aside from our patch – the Merla; this smaller patch is the most sacred because it is nominated…. To the recipient, the recognition and appreciation from our sisters has such a deep meaning. The details of this nomination will remain private within our chapter but tonight we had the pleasure of presenting this honourable patch to our sister Nainai (Renee)

Today our Hub City Merla’s gathered for our season opener bbq (missing two of our sisters). Gigi filled our bellies and these ladies filled the souls!!!! Thanks to some of our guys who came to spend the afternoon with us!

The Hub City girls had the pleasure of learning more about Shelter Movers Greater Moncton tonight at our donation presentation. What an amazing organization made up of volunteers who help tirelessly to ensure safety of women in our community most in need.

Through the generosity of volunteers, employees, and local business partners, Shelter Movers Greater Moncton is working to ensure an immediate and lasting impact on survivors within the community by providing support as they transition to a life free of violence.

There is a growing need for our services in the province, with New Brunswick having the highest rate of criminal harassment against women in Canada. 85% of police-reported spousal homicide victims in New Brunswick are women.

Your Hub City Merla's will be doing our quarterly donation presentation at the month. We do an annual fundraiser that helps us contribute to organizations at that time as well as through the year.

We have voted and our quarterly donation recipient of $250 will be Shelter Movers Greater Moncton. This is a national, volunteer-powered charitable organization providing moving and storage services at no cost to individuals and families fleeing abuse. They collaborate with local businesses and community agencies to support people, primarily women and children, as they transition to a life free of violence.

Should you wish to join us in further donations to this cause, you can send e-transfer to [email protected] with notation of Shelter Movers donation or if you wish to have a tax receipt, you can make a donation directly to the organization.

Monthly meeting with the Hub City Crew a success! We officially welcomed our newest prospect ‘Mayor’, congratulated our new Sargent at Arms ‘Big Rig’ and had the honour of presenting the prestigious I Am My Sister’s Keeper patch to ‘Sass’ for the dedication and support she provides to her sisters. 2024 is going to be a big year for our chapter with so many good things coming. 💜💜💜

BRIDGE TO HOME HUB is a division of the John Howard Society SENB. We had the honor of visiting the site, presenting a donation, and touring the facilities.

This facility focuses on Prevention and Diversion and our very own member ‘Firecracker’ is site supervisor, with our member ‘Rd. Runner’ also on staff. This facility will try and help prevent homelessness by helping those most at risk navigate through the shelter system and those who are simply having a hard time getting back on their feet with bills; providing guidance, counselling, direction etc. They have a Redirection to a Safe Place option which may involve relocating someone to another city to be closer to family etc.. This aids those experiencing homelessness connect with family and helps that family out with things like groceries with goals of lessening the burden brought on by providing aid. The staff here also help guests get medical aid via Salvus clinic, mental health assessment and life coaching. There is no end to the services they provide… all while ensuring guests maintain their dignity.

We were in awe of the facility, the staff and most of all the respect the guests had for everyone.

The Hub City Merla’s had the opportunity to present a donation to the Albert County Food Bank this evening. Thank you for all the folks who bought tickets to our annual basket of cheer fundraiser. This fundraiser enables us to give back to the community. More donation posts to come!

Albert County Food Bank

The Albert County Food Bank helps on average 160 families /week put food on their tables and give a little dignity back to those working hard and still struggling with today’s economy. They receive help via corporations like Sobeys, Superstore, Giant Tiger, Little Caesar’s; they get support from Food Depot Alimentaire and give aid to other remote food banks as needed. The Albert County Food Bank also welcomes public donations via e-transfer to [email protected]

A few days late on this one but we would like to do a HUGE SHOUT OUT to our FOXXI! Happy Merla-versary!

Foxxi was originally patched in within our founding chapter on January 13th, 2018. She was Road Captain for Elm City prior to her moving to Moncton and initiating the creation of our Hub City Chapter serving as VP and a rock to our group of fabulous women!

Thankful for Witch, our founder and president of Elm City whose vision has allowed us to expand this wonderful Coven. We have been fortunate to have such a wonderful group of women whose passion for riding and supporting each other continues to grow.

Today is a special day for Merla’s Coven……this beautiful club starts her 12th year! I remember sitting at my kitchen table with a friend on January 13th, 2013 hammering out the details….we were just a few ladies who wanted something to call our own, sharing our passion for motorcycles…there were so many people saying “there’s no way a woman’s bike club will last….they’re too dramatic and emotional”…..and now it’s 2024 and this sisterhood is thriving with three chapters sharing the beauty of all that is us! We’ve worked hard to support the biking community as well as our towns, our cities, fundraising to give back as best we can…..and all thanks to the amazing support from all of YOU!

As we start our 12th year, we want to express how much we appreciate this support and give our promise we will continue to work hard to give back to our communities and continue to be an inclusive place where women can bond with each other in love and respect for one another, while they share their common bond of being kick ass women bikers! 💜💜💜
