Good afternoon all!
Some exciting news to share with you 🙂

We have purchased four new MSA G1 SCBA packs, each with 4500psi spare bottle and mask. Additionally, we acquired 600 feet of new 1 1/2 inch attack hose and a Porta tank with a 4-inch Storz attachable fill elbow.

We are so happy with our purchases. This would not have been possible without your support from the Nova Scotia Firefighters 50-50. We THANK YOU all so much for your continued support and helping to keep our firefighters and communities safe. 🚒👨🏻‍🚒👩🏻‍🚒

In the aftermath of the West Hants flooding during the summer of 2023, including a serious mayday situation involving a number of members of our department, our leadership team recognized there was a serious gap in services provided in the local area with respect to swift water rescue capability.

A plan was formed to invest in organizing a Swift Water Rescue team. Yesterday our department received the life saving equipment to outfit 9 members to respond to future potential emergencies, of which there is a serious potential in our local area along the Black River Hydro system and connected rivers.

Today, a number of members, pictured above, began a 3 day course with Rescue Canada to become level 3 Swift Water Rescue Technicians. Thank you to the members for their commitment to this challenging training and to those who continue to support our department through the Nova Scotia Firefighters 50-50 which helped make the purchase of this equipment and training possible.

Thank you to Siemens for providing a wonderful instructor-led training this week in Newfoundland on the FC922 / 924 Cerberus Compact System. The training was incredibly well received by all staff; credit to our trainer José Ureña & Jeffry Tondang for making the experience entertaining and comprehensive. It was also a great opportunity to bring our team of Certified Fire Alarm Technicians together from across the country.

We took the foggy evening mid-week to bring everyone out to Petty Harbour for a delicious meal, and to celebrate K&D Pratt receiving Siemen's Territorial Expansion 2023 award! Thank you to Siemens, and all of our talented staff for making it a great week.
