Something oddly fascinating, yet also quite sad, that we've been seeing on radar using correlation coefficient is this area of blue in the eye of Hurricane Milton. This is actually indicative of a large number of birds that become pulled into the eye and trapped due to the strong winds pulling into the centre of the storm. The birds were actually spotted by the crew on board at least one of the aircraft recon missions that have flown over the past couple of days. It is not uncommon to see this phenomenon when dealing with major hurricanes.
Hopefully now that the storm is moving over Florida, the poor birds will have a chance to land.
Note: this radar scan is from earlier in the evening and does not represent the storm's current location.
