Unfortunately a section of Prom. de la Gatineau is closed between P8 & P9 necessitating a detour onto Meech Rd. This is less then ideal :-( Video is at 2x speed, I was actually quite slow on this section...

While a section of Gatineau Parkway is closed Meech Rd. is only way to connect to Fortune Parkway for full loop...

Here are a few Photos of people enjoying the Park. Hikers, bikers, families with trailers & trail-a-bikes. All made possible by the simple and brief restriction on cars. I would love to see this extended to 1 pm Park wide.

Another page with a similar sounding name claims that there is poor insufficient signage alerting motorists to closures and re-opening. I don't know seems clear to me.

Moments after 11 the cars arrive. The experience of cyclists is sharply degraded as they are pushed to the edge of the narrow road and forced to ride single file.

I know it is not unusual to see in the Park but several cyclists roller-skiers all stopped to watch as Mother/faun meandered back into the woods. Unlikely to have been a similar scene with cars traveling by at 60 km/h.

The NCC has always been very responsive. I asked about the park closure and received a prompt reply. Saturday July 5 was the Meech Lake Triathlon Information was on the NCC website: http://www.ncc-ccn.gc.ca/places-to-visit/gatineau-park/news/2014-07-04/traffic-notice-gatineau-park-parkway-closures The weekly closures do not impact the trail system. Auto access to the park is restored at 11:00 am with the exception of a small section of parkway north of chemin du Lac-Meech which re-opens at 1:00 pm. I think this is an over reaction to a well communicated and long standing practice.
