Dragon Lotus. If you like ginger beef, be sure to try theirs! #chinesefood #okanagan
The guests who reside in our bushes...always a welcomed sight.
Pack your towel, the picnic basket and head to Antlers Beach Regional Park!
Situated at the edge of Peachland right off of Highway 97 this long pebbled/white sand beach is a popular spot with stunning views of Okanagan Lake. There are also picnic tables and outhouses available for public use.
Our summer guests staying on the property, meet a member of the Quail family. We want them to feel safe and have all that they need while they're here.
💦We added a source of Water: Quail prefer low, secluded ground birdbaths with shallow basins for quick drinks or, rarely, baths. They often feel too exposed to take advantage of pedestal or elevated baths, but adding a dripper to a ground bath will attract their attention and let them know about the water source. Positioning the bath near a dense shrub can add extra security for nervous birds.
🌳We protected their Shelter: These birds feel safest in yards with abundant, dense shrubs and thicket-like patches where they can easily retreat. Coniferous or evergreen plants are best for year-round shelter, and quail may also sample berries, particularly in winter. Ideally, sheltered spaces should create accessible corridors through the yard so the birds can move from place to place without feeling exposed.
The Den. Situated in beautiful Peachland, British Columbia.
Look who has moved into the bushes of The Den💙🐻
In spring the hen laid about 12 roundish eggs, the male helped her with incubating the eggs. I am told once hatched the young remain with their parents the first summer. They eat mainly seeds and berries but also take leaves, roots, and some insects. Works for me!🐻🍯
This family prefers to roost in the shrubs beside The Den at night. The dense cover and house also provides shelter from those sneaky predators.
So this just happened!
My fur-friends Macy & Jack notified me something unusual was hiding in the bushes. We'd heard rustling like this in the foliage before but the Mrs. was too nervous to reach in and flush it out🙈...I was determined to solve the mystery💙🐻
So I shushed the dogs and we sat quietly peering through the fence, all ears on high alert! Vocal cords warmed up, ready to alert our humans of the visitor. Shhhh. Patience.
Couple minutes later his blue bellied thing with a wild mohawk comes skipping across the rocks!! Can anyone ID him???
Boo sees what you could see.
When you come visit my humans or book your vacay at The Den be sure to visit Hardy Falls.
Located at the south end of Peachland, the flat walking trail is stroller friendly and great for all ages. The trail follows the pristine creek leading to this picturesque waterfall. The shaded park is great for wildlife viewing and the Kokanee Salmon return to spawn in the fall...so you can imagine I may not be the only bear to enjoy hanging out here💙🐻

Name it!
Are my humans smarter than an Okanagan 5th grader?? They are having trouble identifying some of the plants in my backyard. Once fruit forms it will be obvious but that won't be happening for quite some time🙈. I'm drooling!!
You know I'm new to the area (I was born in the prairies) but fruit is a favorite of any bear so if you could help a bear from the flatlands get familiar with his space you'd be my favorite followers💙🐻. I need to get a jump on the local bears!!
Painted Rock Beach
My humans, the pooches and I went for a walk down Beach Ave. to see the Kindness rocks placed at Painted Rock Beach...you read that right...a section of lakefront is named #paintedrockbeach
The Mrs has been getting into this movement, she hid three #BooBlue kindness rocks farther up the beach yesterday so of course we checked to see if they had been found🐻💙
Canyon-Lister Road
Where there's mountains there's beautiful waterways! The Mr & Mrs had to go back and get a closer look at the waters under the bridge they stopped at yesterday.
Just a short hike down the cliff you'll find this oasis. Bring a snack and enjoy the entire day! The water is clear with river rock beaches.
From what wrong saw most visitors take out their garbage so it's clean.
