I love hearing that Ontariens are exploring and WANTING to explore their local surroundings. Without going very far, our province can offer so much. As Canadians, we are so lucky to have such a vast landscape that can scratch all our travel itches.

Here in PEC for example we have world class nature spots that include our famous Sandbanks, point petre wildlife conservation and the Lake on the mountain to name a few. Our gastronomic scene is exceptional and known for its unique, creative dishes that focus on locally sourced goodies that support our hard working farmers and business owners. Shopping is relaxing in the County. Little boutique shops line the charming main streets of the towns and take a drive through the countryside where treasures await you in antique shops scattered throughout Prince Edward County. Travel in the county promotes a “laissez-faire” way of relaxing. One that Ontarians truly enjoy while supporting local …a truly Canadian thing. It is in our nature to support others.

But kindness aside, our tourism opportunities make it very easy for us to support.

This will get you to Belleville where you can either take the bus or a taxi to Old Milford house.
Once you’re at Old Milford House, stay put and enjoy a weekend to relax with enough things to do or reserve one of the many amazing companies that can tour you around…whether it be for food, culture wine, beer or spirits, it’s a great way to visit the County.

Come back and get inspired by making your own pizza or dish in the wood-fired oven. Perhaps cooking isn’t your thing and you have a private chef come make a delicious meal for you at the house? So happens we work with an excellent chef that can make this happen for your weekend. This way you can enjoy a game of fooseball, a fun afternoon of board games…or perhaps for the more active ones and game of soccer in the yard or even better a game of basketball on the court or a splash in the pool!! There’s so much to do and visiting local spots can be so relaxing as well!

For larger groups and families, it can be tough to always go out for a bite to eat. It’s a little luxury to be able to cook a lovely meal with fresh ingredients from local farm stands in the County. Perhaps a lunch out or a special dinner a few nights but it’s also nice to open a tasty local bottle of wine and eat casually until you decide to close up the kitchen.

The kitchen at Old Milford House with its large fridge, big prep space on the island and two sinks gives you all the space and offers all the tools for a yummy meal.

Our guests are often quite surprised with what we have in stock…lemon juicer, Turkey baster, ample serving plates, plus all the essential kitchen needs and many cookbooks to try new recipes!!

Come out with your friends or family and take a few days to enjoy the county and the space that Old Milford House offers!

I often think back to the history of this pretty house. Old Milford was built in 1862 and was the second home built by the prosperous farmer who made cheese for the loyalist army. Once part of over 200 acres with a large dairy barn across the road and the cheese maker living in the similar style house across the street, this house was an ode to the success and hard work of the farmer at the time.

Almost 150 years later, this house is still gorgeous. It’s gingerbread details around the porch, the wide plank flooring and the old apple tree in our yard continue to make this place so magical.

Stay in the County where you can experience the history of this special destination.

the outdoors win the spotlight in every way with the gardens, the space, the things to do, but there are also some amazing space indoors!!

The parlour is my FAVOURITE room. This is my favourite sofa! I absolutely love the curves of this antique piece and how cozy you feel curled up in it like a hug! My hubby has his sofa which is equally as comfy but a more modern minimalist couch.

It’s a room where coffees, cocktails and good conversation happen. It’s a spot where we’ve spent hours catching up with friends and family. With a fire and a good record playing, this room is quite special and the perfect spot on a gloomy rainy day.

Plus, the family room is just far enough to muffle the sounds enough to fully relax ;)
