I stayed here last week during my time in Mexico. It was the first time staying in Cancun and I really enjoyed it! I found the resorts were more compact but not lacking in activities. The Cancun beaches were sandy and people were swimming in the ocean. This resort is perfect for families with young children, people who don't like to walk far on the resorts, and people wanting to enjoy the city of Cancun as it is on a great strip of restaurants and shopping. I was there when it was spring break for a lot of people and it was almost at capacity. However, it never felt crowded and there were always loungers available at the beach.
Restaurant facts:
- No limit on a la carte restaurants
- 4 A la Carte (off the menu) restaurants - Asian, Mexican, Italian, Mediterranean
- 1 Buffet
- 2 Grab and Go (by pools)
- Snack bar on beach
- Coffee Shop - open 24 hours
- Room Service - 7am to 11pm
- 6 areas for drinks
Kids Club (Ages 4-12)
- 10am - 5pm. Camp Alltra has supervised activities, water park and sports court. They will even have nights were the kids can stay over supper time while the parents enjoy their dinner.
Teen Club (13-17)
- Place for teens to hang out, play video games, watch movies, do activities or just veg. It is their time there.
Accommodations
- Very comfortable. There are several swim up suites that are adult only. The family room has a king sized bed and a bunk bed with a trundle bed (sleeps 5 comfortably). There are oceanviews and lagoon views. Since the strip is so skinny, sometimes you get both!

Just booked a fabulous tour of Ireland and Scotland for a fabulous couple fulfilling a bucket list item! A topper to the tour is that they get to start with experiencing the Royal Military Tattoo outside of Edinburgh Castle! I get goosebumps thinking how amazing it would be to be a part of that musical event!
I am a firm believer that tours will give you more than booking on your own and exploring. Fun fact about Cenotes:
It has been known for almost 40 years that a large meteorite struck the Earth around 66 million years ago in a place in southern Mexico that we call Chicxulub, in the Yucatán Peninsula. It was about the same time that the large dinosaurs disappeared from the Earth. This was a most surprising discovery, since the meteorite crater is extremely well hidden under very thick 3,000 ft (1,000 m) of soft limestone rocks. However, we can see traces of the crater on the surface since there is a great number of very deep and large water filled sinkholes that are aligned along the edge of the crater basin. The local people call these sinkholes “cenotes” (pronounced say-no-tays) in a word tied to the Maya language (ts’ono’ot), meaning “a hole filled with water”.
