This 100yr old merchant home located in the beautiful community of Western Bay, NL, has retained it's character over the last century and w

e are dedicated to keeping the feeling of stepping back in time alive. Having had only 3 owners over it's lifetime, it was originally owned by Jesse and Minnie Butt who owned and operated the store next to the house which was a thriving business in it's day, partially due to it's location being across from the train station at the time. The store has since been turned into a cottage. We are a 1.5 hr drive from St. The closest large center is Carbonear which is 25min away. There is a corner store/liquor store/gas pump 5min south in Small Point. The closest restaurant/take out is 5min north in Ochre Pit Cove. There are coastal hiking trails, biking/ATV trails, boardwalk, rivers/ponds/swimming holes and sandy beaches all within walking distance and short drives. The Manor:
~ 4 bedrooms on the 2nd floor, 2 queen and 2 double beds
~ 1 additional double pull out couch in the library on the main floor
~ 2 bathrooms, 1 with a stand up shower, 1 with a claw foot soaker tub
~ Living room, dining room, kitchen, library
~ Fully equipped kitchen with tea, coffee, spices, condiments
~ Books, art supplies, indoor games, music, instruments, yoga mat
~ Front and back decks, BBQ, firepit, outdoor games, hammock
~ Limited cell service
~ Wi-Fi
~ Land line telephone on each floor
~ Washer and dryer

Pets are allowed
No smoking/vaping indoors

$200/night (off season)
$230/night (peak season)
+ $112 cleaning fee/stay +hst

Take advantage of our off season rates in March and April, the longer days and warmer temperatures, and come get away from the hustle to the Mindful Manor in Western Bay. With snow in some areas, you could enjoy spring skiing or snowshoeing, or hike in areas that have been uncovered with the spring thaw. Inland and coastal trails at our doorstep. Take advantage of nature's cold water therapy and dip in the nearby ocean and rivers. Walk the Western Bay Lighthouse Trails on the boardwalk, stroll along the beaches and visit the goat gang at Button Adventures.

After enjoying the beautiful surroundings, come back to the welcoming warmth and unique character of this early 19th century merchant home, take a bath in the claw foot soaker tub and gather around the fire under the stars. Connect with friends and family without the distractions of modern devices and screens, read a book from the library, feed your creativity with our art supplies, play a game or do a puzzle.

Many people go to retreats to make space for healing, self care, dealing with emotions, to let go, etc. At the Bathe Your Senses retreat with Carolyn Staple we provided meditation journals for whatever came up throughout the weekend. It’s important to record what comes up for us during release and healing, and have something to hold on to when we leave and come back to our realities.
