(705)VideoMagazine 705VM 1999 - a video diary of the years of music, snow, skate, bmx, motocross and everything else inside the 705 w/ special features from around the globe. Why?

ABOUT US

705 Video Magazine was established in 1999 and started in a living room with a compact VHS video camera, 2 VCR's wired together, an 18" black and white television and an idea. The idea was to start filming and putting together videos that we could share with our family and friends. People who we grew up riding together with and many who have since moved to other parts of the planet. T

hese videos captured all the fun times with friends including but not limited to skateboarding, snowboarding, bmx and general debauchery. And so it began. (VII/O/V) Volume One: Northern Movement was filmed over a period of a year, edited with minimal access to editing software (as mentioned above) and only available at the time on VHS. It was after all only 2001 by this point. Even though the video quality was seriously lacking, people liked the content. We had never intended for these videos to be viewed outside the people in them and at most their close friends, therefore we had no hesitations to show anything and everything imaginable. People throughout suggestions like...”Should we wax Kinger head to toe?” “SURE!” “How about we have someone stick their pen*s to a wet bumper in -30 degree temperatures?” “HELLS YEAH!” The phrase “Go BIG or go HOME!” was our attitude towards everything (VII/O/V). It worked. Along our journeys we came into contact and developed friendships with amazing Sault locals such as Mikey Hawdon, Mark Rand, Aaron Mooney, Lucas Schmiedendorf and Mikey Wright. Beyond the borders of SSM but still in the 705 area code were Jawn Allaire, Jay and Kenny Galbraith, Scotto Sokoloski, Scot Swain, Jer Quinlan, Theo McKibbon, Lee Serviss and Jay Beaudreault and so many others. This is where the local music aspect of (705) came into play. Who wants to deal with copywright issues? Not us. So a fair exchange of exposure of their music in our videos was another way to promote their talents as well as start to grow our videos. We still use a large amount of music from those friends in our videos to this day. Good music never gets old. You can find articles, mp3's and links to those bands websites and more on this site.

5 volumes of (705) have been released to date. After 'The Northern Movement' (the 1st video) came the remake of 'Where Do The Seagulls Go?',(our 2nd video) a video we had put together in 1992. Next was 'Children Of The Porn',(our 3rd video) another remake of a video we did in 1994. (1992 and 1994 are an entirely different story we will share some other time) After that, we decided people should watch the video and make their own title so we used 'Insert Title Here:________. The video came with a crayon to either "write your own title or shove up your ass" in the case. Following this was simply (705)VM Volume 5. Welcome to 2011. Over a decade has past and 705 Video Magazine has become an online resource that not only features new releases of (VII/O/V) Video Magazine but also all things skate, snow, wake, moto, bmx, music, drama and so much more. We feature videos, news articles and photos of local riders and musicians doing their thing. We also go beyond the borders of the 705 and share with you current news, events and anything else we care about. Because we can. Both on social media outlets like Facebook and coming soon the full launch of http://www.705vm.com

None of what you are about to see or read on our soon to be launched site would be possible without the Webmasta. The Webmasta started over a decade ago building websites, hosting forums and leading the drama that is the 705. He has taken that legacy and joined forces by building the monster of an interactive website we will soon reveal to house the content submitted not only by 705 staff but also, page members with something to share with the world. He's got the magic touch and we can't thank him enough for that. (And not just that special touch in our secret place)

That's enough for now. There is so much more we could go on for pages. So surf around, watch and share videos, read and share articles, join the conversation on our forums (BEWARE OF TROLLS – don't say we didn't warn you) and anything else that tickles your fancy. The end. Or is it?
