Welcome to beautiful Nelson’s Bay on Deer Lake in the Almaguin Highlands. The Green Cottage is just a little over a 3 hr drive north from Toronto and is 20min west off of Hwy 11, on quiet Deer Lake.
-The Green Cottage-
The Green is a cozy 2 bedroom, 1 bath cottage that comes with everything you need; just bring your own drinks & food! Linens & towels are provided and the cottage is cleaned between guests. The master bedroom has a queen bed and dresser with a gorgeous view of the lake. The second bedroom has a bunk bed outfitted with luxury Beddy’s bedding (with the cozy minky) and a dresser. The living area & kitchen area is open concept. The kitchen area has a generous table with benches, fridge, stove, microwave kettle, toaster, toaster oven, and coffee maker with filters. The living room has leather couches, a rocking chair, coffee table, a couple side tables, TV & DVD player. There is a small selection of books and DVDs for rainy days and evenings. WiFi & Internet access included.
The cottage shares the property with a house that your hosts live in year round. We are conveniently next door if you ever need anything. We’ve included some pictures that show the how the buildings are situated.
There is a shared dock and a small beach where the water gradually gets deeper, it’s great for younger kids. There are a few kayaks and a canoe you can use, as well as a fishing boat with a small electric motor. Deer Lake has great fishing where you’ll find Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Walleye, White Sucker and Yellow Perch.
-Our Rates-
Weekly rate (on season): $1,200 +HST
Weekly rate (off season): $900 +HST
Weekend rate (on season): $220 per night +HST
Weekend rate (off season): $200 per night +HST
On Season: July, August & September
Off Season: May, June & Early October (October is dependent on temperature)
The cottage can be booked for weekends or full weeks in the spring and fall, only full weeks are available in the summer season (starting June 30th and ending Sept 1st).
-Maximum Occupancy-
We have a maximum occupancy of 4 people (there is 1 queen bed & 2 single beds). Maximum occupancy is determined not only by number of beds, but based on the size of our septic system as well. Children 2 years of age and younger do not count towards the maximum occupancy.
-Bug Season-
Bug season is a thing out here in the north. Some years are worse than others, but it is part of the price we pay being out in nature. There will always be some bugs, but in the spring is when bugs are the worst (generally from late May to the end of June). In the spring you have both mosquitos and black flies, and in wooded areas they can be quite bad. We highly recommend bug spray during this time of year and we provide a couple bug jackets as well.
-Booking-

-Cancellations-
For cancellations a 30 days notice from the beginning of your stay is required to receive a full refund. For cancellations within the 30 days, we will give a full refund if we are able to find someone else to replace your booking, if we are unable to fill the cottage we will not be able to refund your deposit.
