Bruce D. Campbell Farm & Food Discovery Centre Where does our food come from? Learn about Canadian food production at the Discovery Centre! Canadians are world leaders in food safety and production.

Through fun and informative exhibits, visitors will:

* Sit in the driver's seat of a tractor and explore crop production.
* Experience the life of a bug deep in the root bed of a prairie plant.
* Peek in on a day in the lift of a pig.
* Try on a career in the amazing world of food production.
* Use ultrasound to find out if a pig is pregnant.
* Discover how research is

improving the quality of our food.
* Select their own supermarket food to make up a nutritious balanced meal.
* Learn how to make cheese. We want our visitors to leave us knowing:

* Food comes from agriculture.
* Farmers take care of the land. They also take animal welfare seriously - after all, good care is good business.
* There are interesting careers all along the food production chain.
* Science plays a huge role in the making of our food. The Centre is located at the University of Manitoba’s Glenlea Research Station, approximately 15 km south of Winnipeg.

Help us kick off Manitoba’s Farm and Food Awareness Week with us next weekend on Sunday, September 15 - Manitoba’s agriculture sector is running a free and fun event for families!

Free and open to the public, Discover Agriculture on the Farm will run from 10 am to 2 pm here, at the Bruce D. Campbell Farm and Food Discovery Centre, located 15 minutes south of Winnipeg at 1290 Research Station Rd.

This event offers interactive family fun and an opportunity to talk with Manitoba farmers, see live animals including pigs, dairy cows, broilers and laying hens, and explore prairies crops like canola. The event will include hands-on activities and games. Participating organizations will be sharing recipes and other giveaways, and there will be food samples while supplies last.

Come out and learn more about the great diversity of food production in this province and the importance of agriculture to the provincial economy.

We found this little girl on the side of the road close to the highway with no mom or siblings in sight. One of our staff has decided to take her home and adopt her but she needs a name!
