Virgo and Dunbar Fitness Physical and mental health go hand in hand. Jen is A certified personal trainer with Canfit pro since 2008.

Since that time she has continued to add to her fitness education with: certified nutrition and wellness, PiYO certification, group fitness instructor and spin. She was a wellness consultant for EWSNetwork, and help a businesses achieve successful wellness programs. Jen is currently working on our human movement specialist certification with the BrookBrushInstitute. Jen’s passion for fitness stems

from wanting her clients to have a lifelong journey with wellness. Her passion comes from changing peoples views on what fit looks like. Jen promotes body positivity and her motto is: “I’m not training to be skinny, I’m training for longevity.”

Jeff Virgo served 5 years in the Canadian Armed forces with the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI). While on duty Jeff suffered spinal cord injury (SCI) resulting in paralysis from the waist down. With extensive rehabilitation & hard work Jeff regain the ability to walk again. He has enjoyed many experiences post injury from being one of the Torch Barriers for the Parapan American Games in Toronto, completing in two Invictus Games (UK in 2014 and Orlando in 2016) for wounded warriors of allied nations, as well has raced in sprint kayak over the last 3 years. Jeff has also work with youth as Program Manager at multi sports camp in Quebec, from coaching soccer and being advocate for accessibility & being active. As a fitness instructor & personal trainer at Lakeshore Recreation his persistence, positive attitude and sense of humour have made him popular with other members. Jeff is very active with youth soccer in Saugeen Shores as a coach and member of the executive.

🎉CELEBRATING 1 YEAR STRONGER!💪

Meet Joanne! This month we're celebrating Joanne's 1 year memberaversary! Joanne has made the 6:30am Strength Circuit class a part of her daily routine. One of her favorite sayings is "Never miss a Monday!" because she knows starting out your week with strength is the best way! I'll let Joanne tell you more cause she says it best!

"I'm celebrating 1 whole year at Her Strength Studio! Definitely one of the best years of my life. 10 years ago, as I was approaching 50, my goals were all about how I looked. Fast forward to July 2024 and it's all about how I feel. Lynda teaches us to aim for strong bodies and minds. I'm as strong physically and mentally as I've ever been.

The studio has brought some pretty amazing ladies into my life as well, that I know will be life long friends. Who knew at 58 I'd be planning BEACH days with my NEW girlfriends? 🏖

Do yourself a favour and try a class. You will have no regrets."

I recently watched a video by BobbyParrish 📹, where he discussed inflammatory foods. I had been consuming a lot of hummus 🥙 and started experiencing joint pain 🤕. I couldn't pinpoint the cause until I learned about the effects of sunflower oil 🌻. Sometimes, even with the biggest aspirations and the best intentions, we are the ones who get in our own way. We can be our harshest critics, which can stop us from making progress before we’ve even begun. It's like we have an inner critic who loves to nag more than our moms do! 😅

If you’re being hard on yourself or lacking self-belief, pause for a second. Remind yourself of the amazing direction you want to go, and tell yourself, “I can and I will.” Would you talk to a friend the way you talk to yourself? Probably not! Let’s be nicer to ourselves. Overcoming negative self-talk can change the way you see yourself and help you unlock your true potential.

Sometimes I have a hard time getting all my calories in. A smoothie helps me hit some of my missing macros and keeps me feeling energized! 🥤

Kickstart your day with this refreshing and nutritious [Smoothie Name]! It's loaded with vitamins and perfect for a quick breakfast or post-workout boost.

Ingredients:

1/2 banana
1/2 cup Strawberries, blueberries, mango, or fruit of your choice
1 scoop of protein powder of your choice
1/2 cup baby spinach
1/2 cup almond, coconut or oat milk
