Melisa Cole Vibrantly Colourful Artist I am a colour-focused abstract artist born in Toronto, I was raised in Grenada, a beautiful island in the Caribbean.

It was in Grenada, that I developed my flavour and passion for colour. From the vibrant houses which line the streets in seemingly endless fashion, to the exotic fruits and spices that tempt your senses. I was educated at George Brown College in Toronto, where I studied Art and Design. That experience, catalysed my love and understanding for colour theory, along with the rich cultural diversities

of Grenada and Toronto. These familiarities have impacted my personal style, and has helped to shape me as an artist. When I paint, I want to feel everything, and with my distinctive style that I have created, I can do just that through every tint, tone, and hue. I feel that linking these aspects together, creates my own distinct flare that can capture my audience’s emotions.

Spring has sprung and it’s time to clear out space for new pieces!

These original 8x10 pop colour paintings were created 2018 and there’s only 10!! Which means they won’t be recreated in prints or larger paintings 🤯🤩

In honour of Pride month, I thought a great way to support the 2SLGBTQ+ community and show my love would be by giving back!

So I created a limited amount of Rainbow Pom Pom Headbands!

They are $45 and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Black Coalition for AIDS Prevention.

Day 17 - LILY PAD

A lot of emotions and thoughts while creating this piece.... So when I saw the prompt “lily pad” this idea came to me. It’s the best way to describe the feeling I get sometimes. Where the anxiety or depression gets so overwhelming it feels as if I’m drowning in it. One side of me feels so defeated ready to give up. But the other side still has hidden fire that just won’t extinguish.

💙 I’ve being trying to take a deeper look at myself and learn to love the person I see in the mirror. Flaws an all. So when this word popped up, this was the first thing that came to mind... To be honest, I’m not the best at describing this process I’m going through. But I’d like my art to start reflecting more on these feelings and what I’m going though. (It’s funny, cause as I write just this little snippet I’m fighting back tears...)
