It's no joke - we are currently facing delayed and cancelled on a global level.
How you can prepare:
1) Use a - it's true, we actually do have insight on many things the general public doesn't and can offer options to minimize stress for your travels
2) Arrive early - staff shortages extends to security & customs personnel. For travelling to the , clearing US customs at Canadian airports if you're not a holder can be a long wait and could result in missing your flight altogether
3) If you are travelling from a major Canadian airport, download the CATSA app which gives you approximate wait times at security checkpoints. I use this app each time I travel and it's been very helpful
4) lf you can, pack just a carry on to avoid loss or delays. If you need to check in a bag, be sure to carry some extra clothing in your carry on in case your doesn't arrive in destination on time
5) If you're taking a , arrive at the port city at least a day before the cruise departs
6) Buy - you can get compensated for loss/delayed luggage and even some flight delays/cancellations
7) Bring A LOT of patience. We're glad has started up again but unfortunately, getting everyone back to work has not caught up at the same pace. All , etc. are doing their best to keep up with this demand. Yelling at staff won't make it easier or fix the problem instantly. Some understanding and kindness can go a long way

Effective today, the Canadian government has SUSPENDED vaccination requirements for domestic and outbound air and train travel. If you're travelling to Canada, here's what you need to know:
1) Foreign nationals entering Canada will require to be vaccinated
2) The mask mandate on planes and trains remains in place
3) The ArriveCan app will continue to be required prior to entering Canada
4) Quarantine and testing requirements for Canadians who have not received their primary vaccine series remains in effect.
5) Vaccination of crew and passengers for cruise travel is still required

All Aboard! Over the next couple of days I will be taking the exquisite Rocky Mountaineer train service through the . The gold service cars are double height, giving a panoramic view of the natural beauty around and an outside viewing area. Upstairs is the seating while downstairs is the dining area where breakfast and lunch are served and are included as part of your trip. The seats provide lumbar support, temperature control, a foot rest with plenty of leg room. The train service only operates during the day so you never miss the view. Our first stop tonight is Kamloops, where we will disembark and rest at a local hotel.

Here is the Oceanview Balcony stateroom I'm staying in. Very generous amount of closet space and the bathroom is not too cramped either. The bed can be separated into 2 twin beds and the sofa can also be used as another twin bed. But nothing beats having a balcony where you can sit out and take in some fresh air with great views of water. The balcony is also covered on the top so you can enjoy it even if there's rain. Check in at the pier was smooth and seamless. We were asked to show our full vaccination record and negative antigen test result. Because the US still requires a negative antigen to enter by air, I was able to use the same test result for getting on board the ship. Wearing a mask is recommended though optional on board.

Soon, travellers entering Canada will not have to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test, CTV News has learned. As of April 1, the federal government will be lifting the pre-arrival COVID-19 testing requirement at the border for fully vaccinated travellers.

- Feb. 28: The PCR test will be replaced by the less costly antigen rapid test for re-entry
-Testing requirements for fully vaccinated Canadians will be dropped for short trips of less than 72 hours abroad

A step in the right direction - Starting Feb. 1, the EU announced it will replace current restrictions and replace them with conditions based on the traveler’s vaccination, test or recovery status verified by a EU digital Covid certificate instead of the country they are coming from. The new approach will allow more simplicity and accessibility for travelers , especially those penalized from entering certain countries due to high Covid numbers in their home country.

This is welcoming news to the cruise industry! The CDC officially confirmed its Conditional Sail Order (CSO) will transition on 15JAN to a voluntary set of guidelines for COVID health and safety for ships sailing in U.S. waters. With close to 100 per cent vaccination on board almost all major cruise line ships, along with testing, these safety protocols exceed environments people encounter daily at home , like visits to the grocery store. A great start to 2022 for the tourism sector!
