A 13 hour layover in Paris! We took the trains into the city and with limited time used the hop-on-hop-off bus to see most of the sights. The seine river cruise didn’t work out, they were too packed for our liking. Did a lot of walking and ate a lot of great food. A fantastic ending to a once in a lifetime bucket list trip for us 🇳🇱 🇿🇦 🇿🇼 🇫🇷

A quick 2 day adventure in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 I got to be the copilot on the helicopter tour, whether she knew it or not I was ready to assist 😂 Found an amazing gin distillery and brewery before our Boma dinner!

A short 2 hour flight from Nelspruit, we’ve arrived in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. We enjoyed a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River and saw crocodile, buffalo, elephants, hippo and monkeys on the Zambia River banks. Walking into town for dinner we saw some big monkeys wandering so we didn’t trek far in the dark 🐒

About our lodge: Savannah Lodge is located approx 1 hour from domestic Skukuza airport @ Kruger National park, or 1.5H from Nelspruit international airport. It hosts an average of 24 guests per night each in their own private villa. We at breakfast after the first game drive, and lunch before the evening drive - dinner served around 8pm. Every night the staff prepares a unique setting or theme for dinner and we dine with our Jeep group (max 6 guests) and our ranger/guide. There was a well equipped onsite gym and small curio shop onsite. Between game drives from 10am-4:00pm is when we could enjoy our private pool or join other guests at the small main pool, enjoy a massage, nap, or all of the above! The staff & service here is unlike anything I’ve experienced. Our ranger and tracker have worked together for approx 4 years and have their own way of communicating without words it seems. The enthusiasm they have for animal behaviour lends itself well to making our experience unforgettable!

Mid September through May is their summer which is also known as rainy season. Things are more lush, but I quite prefer the dryness of winter as the brush & grass allowed for easier viewing and dry drives.

I will be recommending this one to all my clients!

Our adventure at Sabi Sands has come to an end. We saw 4 of the big 5. The 3 lion prides in the area have been beyond the boundary for 6 days and although tracks were found coming in, they walked back out - so close! We were very fortunate to see cheetah (and her cubs!) as those are extremely rare for this southern district.
Each night our lodge arranges unique dinner surprises and this time we were welcomed with champagne and bonfire. Dinner was served in a beautifully preserved train car dating back to 1914. On the menu, the carpaccio was warthog, springbok and crocodile followed by lamb.
We could not have asked for a better experience on our first safari. Who wants to come back with me?!

An exciting evening last night! A female leopard was within arms reach, hyenas fighting over an impala kill, male leopard & buffalo spotting, Boma dinner & choir performance. This morning we started shifting our morning drives earlier to 5:45am to allow noctural animal viewing before sunrise. We finally saw giraffe, and an elephant approached us during our morning coffee stop. Wild dogs are rare and we saw a pack of 7 adults/10 pups and they’re such entertaining creatures!

First morning game drive up for coffee at 5:00am. We call someone to es**rt us if it’s dark out as many animals sit outside our room. So far we’ve had antelope, zebra, elephant and warthogs. The guides for the nearby lodges use their radios to assist each other and plan the order to view the animals. Our tracker has 18 years of experience and what I found impressive is how they use not only tracks & p**p, but birds, wind and general knowledge of how they move to locate the various game. I came here wanting to see the cheetah and her 3 cubs and it was doubtful that would happen. I must have brought some luck as we saw them along with leopard and her 2 cubs! An absolutely thrilling experience and still 3 more days to go!
