Ahead of the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, Civ Club is joining 14 student groups at UofT Engineering in reflecting on the 14 Calls to Action against Gender-Based Violence and honouring 14 of the young women who were murdered at l’École Polytechnique in Montreal on Dec. 6, 1989. 🕊️

Today we are honouring Annie St-Arneault, a passionate mechanical engineering student who was killed in her last class before graduation.

Civ Club is committed to supporting all of our female peers and ensuring that they feel belonging in their engineering program. We will continue to celebrate their achievements, involve them in our decisions, and strive to create an inclusive culture for everyone.

✨With less than 2 days left, here are all of the details you should know before coming to the CivMin Dinner Dance!! (DM or email if you have lingering questions.)

- The event begins at 6:00 PM and you must arrive by 7:15 PM. Keep your ticket handy - make sure to find it in your email and let us know if you have not received it!
- Everyone must show a valid form of ID to be admitted. For those who would like to drink, this should include your age (ie. driver’s license). Even with a drinking ticket, you will not be allowed to drink without showing the proper ID!
- If you have purchased a bus ticket, please take note of the bus information above. If you are being picked up, please arrive by 5:30 PM to not risk being left behind! The bus returning to campus will depart at 12:00 AM. Pickup from/return to campus are at 10 Kings College Road.
- The fun will continue on until 1:00 AM!

The CivClub Executives are cheering you on as we enter Week 3! 🎉 This fabulous team has been hard at work organizing many initiatives for you. 🤩 So here’s what we’ve mainly been up to:

- 🗓️ Creating calendars with all the major assessments for each year (check them out under Resources > Academic on our website!)
- 💃 Planning the Dinner Dance so it looks and feels AMAZING (and selling tickets of course)
- 🏟️ Organizing our annual Foosball Tournament (team sign-ups are open!!)
- 🔓Selling and preparing lockers for your use (half-sized lockers are still available for rent!)
- 🧑‍🏫 Recruiting and planning for our Student Success sessions to help 1st and 2nd years with midterms!

📢 CivClub is recruiting for our Student Success Initiative! This new initiative hires upper-year students to design and execute midterm review sessions for various first and second year civil engineering courses. 👩🏻‍🏫 As a student success mentor, you will be tasked with helping students during midterm and final season to understand the material better. Applications are due Friday, September 20, but applications will be considered on a rolling basis, so don’t wait, apply today!!

CivClub is hiring Student Success Mentors for the following courses: MAT186, MAT188, CIV100 (as backup), CME270, CME210 (as backup).
Time commitment: 2-3 hours per month.
