This first photo is of Norm Dokis. He is an amazing First Nations guide and teacher at Dokis First Nation. To celebrate dad’s 75th birthday 🥳, he took our group on an incredible experience on the French River.
He showed us rock paintings along the river that were thousands of years old, a drumming rock that echoes for miles around, and then we arrived at Camp Petawachuan, it’s an amazing spot where we swam, fished, did artwork, and feasted.
He and Paul were wonderful and generous hosts, serving up a feast from the fire 🔥 of fresh pickerel, river red horse fish, fiddleheads, chicken of the woods mushrooms 🍄, moose egg rolls, venison loin and venison ribs. Oh and fries 🍟- way better than McDonald’s! Incredible.
A great honour for my dad who has loved fishing on this river for many many decades now. Thank you 🙏, Camp Petawachuan, Norm and Paul! We’d love to return!
