Well then good sir!! What do we have here!! Is that a Maitake I see?? Why yes it is my good sir. 2 of them Wow, 4.5 lbs dame!! The myth, the legend, Hen Of The Woods, Maitake, dancing mushroom, it goes by many names. What a great find this evening. In the forest with friends and Mr Truf, after a great day on the river. Good trade mushroom hunting lessons for kayaking lessons!

Maitake
Hen of the woods
Grifola frondosa
Maitake translates as dancing mushroom ( because you dance when you find one)
In Korean it is dancing butterflies

Found a chaga and a lions main growing on the same yellow birch tree. First time over ever seen that. What a awesome day of mushroom picking with Etienne and Mr. Truf. Found some Pine Mushroom, tube chanterelles and some hedgehog 🦔 mushrooms. The bounty of the fall is here. Let go have fun in the forest conscious back with treasures! Happy foraging and hunting!. Have a wicked day.

Boletus is a genus of mushroom-producing fungi, comprising over 100 species.

The genus Boletus was originally broadly defined and described by Carl Linnaeus in 1753, essentially containing all fungi with hymenial pores instead of gills. Since then, other genera have been defined gradually, such as Tylopilus by Petter Adolf Karsten in 1881, and old names such as Leccinum have been resurrected or redefined. Some mushrooms listed in older books as members of the genus have now been placed in separate genera. These include such as Boletus scaber, now Leccinum scabrum, Tylopilus felleus, Chalciporus piperatus and Suillus luteus. Most boletes have been found to be ectomycorrhizal fungi, which means that they form a mutualistic relationship with the roots system of certain kinds of plants. More recently, Boletus has been found to be massively polyphyletic, with only a small percentage of the over 300 species that have been assigned to Boletus actually belonging there and necessitating the description and resurrection of many more genera.
The name is derived from the Latin term bōlētus 'mushroom' from the Ancient Greek βωλίτης, bōlitēs, ultimately from βῶλος, bōlos 'lump' or 'clod'. However, the βωλίτης of Galen is thought to have been the much prized Amanita caesarea.

Oh no my mushroom all exploded in my bag, cap broken stems detected. A few simple options. Dehydrated then, pick out as much of the spruce need, ferns or other leaf litter and sauté them. Even tho they are all broken can still be used and are still delicious. Follow me for more tips and tricks on dealing with your wild mushrooms.
