HEY COTTAGE RENTERS!!!!!
We need your help.
For many years, people like you have enjoyed renting a cottage on the beautiful Bruce Peninsula. Generations of families have spent time splashing around in our lakes, learning to water ski, viewing our gorgeous night skies.
Our Municipality, like many in Ontario, are now looking to licence cottage rentals. While most cottage owners are OK with getting a licence, our municipality is trying to regulate with a very heavy hand - with fees from $1000- $3000, plus many other costs. The fines are outrageous, and many cottage rentals, some who only rent a few weeks per season, will stop renting their cottages to you due to the extortionate cost. This will mean a huge rate hike in the industry, as this cost will be passed down to you, the renter.
The complaints against cottage rental users logged with our bylaw department are less than 25 complaints in a YEAR, and many of those complaints are repeat owner offenders. The need to over regulate and the punitive fees are just plain greed. And not at all logical or fair.

fill out the survey.
PLEASE, let our municipality know that you do not agree with the costly licensing fees which will be passed on to you. Let them know how much your family loves to cottage in the North Bruce Peninsula, let them know you respect and love the area.
This needs to be done ASAP. The time our Municipality has given this part of the process is only 15 days.
