Bigger doesn’t not always mean better when it comes to a journey at sea…
Depending on the traveller, destination and budget there is hundreds of options to make the most of your experience at sea.

I personally have experienced an authentic junk boat in Halong Bay, typical river vessel on the Yangtze, luxury small ship on the Amazon, expedition in comfort in the Galapagos, small luxury ship and large family focused cruise ship.

Don’t let the myths and fears of “cruising” stop you from experiencing the incredible opportunities on the water ⚓️⚓️⚓️

Always on call for clients travelling but getting emails like these sure makes it worth it!

Hi Jodi, I wanted to send you an email while we are here in Costa Rica, otherwise I will forget details. Main message is to say that our first 4 days have been wonderful. Our two guides so far with Costa Rica Expeditions have been superb! Marguerita yesterday and David with Blue Pass today were the best ever. Everything has been on time and everything we have done has been worthwhile. 11,300 steps today, we are pooped in a very good way!! La Paz waterfalls and wildlife center yesterday, the information Margueirita has in her head, David today, the La Paz waterfall (500 steps down and up), lunch at a farm, Volcano tour (in the rain). All have been wonderful. Thank you so much, and the journey is not half over!!! More updates when I can, living the dream!

Last night I had the pleasure of attending a presentation by one of our true adventure partners Lindblad Expeditions.

This company put Expedition on the map and now explores 7 continents.

This isn’t cruising , this is exploration by water…zodiacs, naturalists, expedition guides, remote destinations, incredible wildlife…

Took a break from my desk today for some valuable trainings and networking with suppliers and friends.

Spent the afternoon with our partners in Fiji for a wonderful seminar put on by the Fiji Tourism Board and guys….I want to go!!! 🌴Non stop flights from Vancouver to Fiji starting this November!

Added a few hours of Shop Talk on the patio with colleagues 💻

And ended the evening with presentations and dinner by Hurtigruten and Windstar Cruises, offering amazing expedition and small ship voyages! ⚓️

We loved our time in Puglia, Italy. A short 4 hour train ride from Rome, I really feel it is the destination in Italy, for those who have been to Italy before, loved the people, food and culture, but looking for something new.

It is much less explored by the North American market, however rising in popularity. When the Amalfi coast was seeing thousands of tourists daily, some of the areas we visited had hundreds, some even less.

Accommodation can be more casual depending on where you stay. There is not many large hotels, more 4 star boutique.

We split our time between Monopoli, a beautiful fisherman's town on the coast. We loved it. It had a slow pace, beautiful narrow streets to explore and amazing dining options. Accommodation is more B&B style here, however there are a few great boutique hotels.

We then stayed in the countryside in a traditional trulli between the towns of Cisterneno and Martina Franca. It was a bit secluded in terms of dining options, but we loved the experience, and biked every day.

We ended our time in the city of Lecce, which offers a whole new prospective of history, and our apartment over looked their main plaza and Roman amphitheater. We took day trips to visit the famous town of Alberbello and the other seafront towns with beautiful beaches.

There is many things I learned on our journey as we travelled by transfer and train, and did not have our own car. But in terms of diverseness of the towns, amazing food, opportunity for wine and olive tastings and a great culture I would highly recommend the area.

One challenge is the language barrier as it is untouched by the North American market, but if you go there prepared for that, it is certainly doable.
