It’s almost free fishing weekend in Alberta! This weekend, Albertans and visitors can give fishing a try on waterbodies with open fishing seasons without having to purchase a sportfishing licence (fishing regulations still apply). This is a great opportunity to dip your toes into a new hobby while enjoying Alberta’s beautiful waterscapes.

Crimson Lake is named after its very colorful sunsets, but the sunrises are pretty amazing too.

Crimson Lake Provincial Park is about 13 kms from Rocky Mountain House in Clearwater County, a very scenic part David Thompson Country.

David Thompson Country is a beautiful part of Alberta with mountains, rivers, lakes, waterfalls, campsites, and trails that people from all over the world come to enjoy. Much of David Thompson Country is fairly remote, making for some unique experiences and amazing pictures.

There are many visitors who regularly take time to keep trails and campsites clean so that others can share these experiences for years to come. We are grateful to those who care for David Thompson Country and help keep it clean. As the Clearwater County Sasquatch says, “Welcome to our backyard! Please enjoy it with respect.”

Please take home whatever you brought in. We are seeing people pick up their trash, but then they leave the bags at roadsides, or their camp spots, or around already overflowing garbage bins, attracting wildlife to the location and in the end still creating a huge mess. If you brought it in, please take it home.

The following are Seven Principles of Leave No Trace recreation. Please keep these in mind while enjoying the natural beauty of David Thompson Country.
