The Derailed Adventures Philosophy
At Derailed Adventures, it is our mission to grow the bikepacking community and the number of people seeking out adventure by bicycle. We know that the best adventures are off the beaten path but also strongly believe that bikepacking is an adventure that everyone can enjoy! Derailed Adventures is a great place to kickstart your passion for bikepacking. We want t
o facilitate more outdoor adventures for everyone, to share an experience with like-minded people, form friendships and join the larger bikepacking community. We ride as a group so no one gets left behind and we all get to share in the experience of the tour. We welcome mountain bikers, gravel riders and bikepacking enthusiasts - as well as people who don’t yet know that they are bikepacking enthusiasts! If this is your first adventure or your fortieth, Derailed Adventures is ready for your next escapade. Regardless of your bikepacking experience, come and join us for a ride!

One of our favourite spots to go camping is at Ruckle Park on Salt Spring Island. Waterfront views, stunning sunsets and the sound of the waves. It's great to get to by bike and you can stop off at one of the many farm stands on the way in. Have you camped here before?

There are plenty of bridges to cross on the Cowichan Valley Campout. We have had some awesome rides along the trails and tracks on this tour, with lots of climbing and sunshine!

We've had some great times on the Sooke Brewery Sampler tour this year. Lunches with ocean views, a great rail trail to ride along and friendly goats!

A couple of weeks ago Sing joined us on the Cowichan Valley Campout tour. It was a great weekend getaway riding beautiful gravel trails and camping amongst the trees. We even got to see the Belgium Waffle Ride zooming past!

Repair kits are an important part when bikepacking. A spare tube, pump, tire levers and a path kit are the essentials but we carry a little extra in case something more serious goes wrong. If you don't want to deal with any possible mechanical problems trail side, come on a tour and let our guides fix it for you!

It's always important to stop for food and drinks on tour. There are some really great cafes, breweries and cheese shops on our tours. Sample local food and beverages in some stunning places around Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands.

The sun is out and it's warming up out in BC. We've been enjoying the perfect riding conditions with sunny skies, gentle breezes and warm days. Almost warm enough to go for a swim!

😕Mechanical problems can be a pain when on a bikepacking trip. No one wants to be stuck on the side of the trail. Our experienced guides carry tools to try and get you rolling again. You won't even need to get your hands dirty!

Funky bikes of Derailed Adventures!
We've had some pretty cool bikes on our tours before. One of those was Jody's tandem bike that he rode solo on the Sooke Brewery sampler tour. He had some innovative ways to carry his own bags on the bike!

Hydrate or die-drate! We carry between 2 and 5 litres of water depending on how far bewtten water spots. We also carry a water filter just incase the water source isn't reliable. How much water do you carry when bikepacking?
