WestJet is committed to providing our guests with fare options that provide affordability, choice, and flexibility. We want to empower our guests to choose the products and services they value most so they can match their travel experience to both their preferences and budget.

As a valued member, we wanted to inform you that on June 4, 2024, our Basic fare is being replaced by our new UltraBasic fare. UltraBasic is still our lowest price fare option and will result in price reductions across domestic and transborder routes. However, it does come with restrictions. It is important to understand the limitations of UltraBasic and what this means for you and your benefits:

• Carry-on bags: Carry-on bags are not permitted unless you are travelling on a transatlantic or transpacific flight, or if you purchase Extended Comfort for all flights in a single direction, including connections. Personal items that fit under the seat in front are allowed and there is the option to check a bag in advance for an additional fee. If you arrive at the gate with a carry-on bag when not permitted, it will be checked with both a checked bag and a service fee applied.

• Pre-assigned seats: You will be automatically assigned seats at the back of the aircraft, including middle seats, which may not be together if you are travelling with others. You have the option to choose your seats for an additional fee.

• Boarding: You will be the last to board.

• Not eligible for changes: Changes, cancellations, or refunds are not permitted with this fare.

• WestJet Rewards earn: Opting for this fare means you’ll miss out on earning WestJet dollars and tier qualifying spend.

We believe these changes will help us continue to provide competitive air travel options while focusing on operational excellence. By expediting the boarding process and optimizing cabin space, we aim to enhance on-time performance and improve your travel experience.

UPDATE REGARDING AIR CANADA: Air Canada Pauses Changes to Seat Selection
“We have paused the implementation for operational reasons to ensure a smooth rollout for our customers and employees, and we will communicate next steps further at the appropriate time.”

Air Canada has made a change to seat selection for select fares. As of this week, travellers who book an Economy (Basic) or Economy (Standard) fare can no longer select a Standard seat for free at check-in. Instead, AC now automatically assigns a seat upon check-in, and passengers need to pay to change to a different seat (if this is what they want to do).

ADMIRE METEORA AND THE LIVELY TRIKALA TOWN

The UNESCO World Heritage monasteries of Meteora are our first stop today. Join a 'Local Specialist' to visit two of the six Eastern Orthodox monasteries that cling impressively to immense, rounded rock towers overlooking the town. This afternoon experience the picturesque and lively town of Trikala, considered to have been the birth place of the “God of Medicine” Asclepius.
