Stepping it up at Zephyr Cottage with a new 4 person sauna. Delivered it yesterday with DRT trucking. Smooth lift and driving and the floor tiles all held up great. Cottage will be open again next week. sauna will be up and running November 10. 🔥

A couple of local fawns that live in the yard. These two were the size of a small puppy just a month ago. They grow up so fast. The weather doesn’t get much better than this in Sooke. Lots of openings in September. Hope you are all enjoying the summer.

Just 1.4 KM from Zephyr Cottage is Ed Macgregor Park. It is a great little “coffee walk”. The boardwalk winds down through the trees and out onto the ocean. Here you don’t need a boat to get a bunch of crab. Just a couple of traps. Don’t forget your tidal fishing license. Spring is on the way.

This was a quick shot with a point and shoot camera I took at Sombrio. It was on one of the first dates I had with with my wife. Hope to get more of these waves in February. Sombrio beach is absolutey beautiful and is a bit of a drive from the cottage. About 45mins west on hwy 14.

A light dusting of snow here in Sooke. It's the first time this cottage has seen snow. We've got it real easy here compared to the rest of BC. Stay safe on the roads out there. More storm weather to come.

Storm watching at Sheringham lighthouse today. Winds gusting to 80 K’s. Was actually scary walking down there with the trees swaying heavily above the trail. So much power and energy in the ocean. Safe travels to everyone on land and sea.

What to do on the island on a rainy day? Victoria butterfly gardens is pretty cool. It’s about a 45 minute drive from the cottage. It’s worth checking out if you decide to head into Victoria for the day. The kids will love it. January is booking up quick but February is wide open.

It’s been a real mixed bag of weather here in Sooke for the past week. Lots of rain, wind and sunshine. All in the same day. Power was out today for 3 hrs but everything is back to normal.

Our guests asked if we could get them a Christmas tree. Our daughter was thrilled to decorate two trees this year. Why not? My wife made a wreath out of plants from our yard too. Happy Holidays from Zephyr Cottage!

Many of our guests have been asking what we use for the bed mattresses. They are a gel memory foam. The brand is Bloom by Sleep Country and it is the higher end model. These are great for a good nights sleep. The cottage has three beds and will sleep 6 people. We still have some openings for December.
