One of the million reasons why I love what I do:

Traveling with stomach issues:

This isn’t really a hot topic, but lets be real… stomach issues are SO common these days.

I have struggled my entire life with debilitating stomach problems and I used to let it prevent me from doing a lot of things including traveling.

My doctor recently asked me how I now manage to visit so many countries considering this is such a consistent issue and it led me to think I should share my tips and tricks just in case any of you struggle!

1. Start a travellers probiotic at least 2 weeks before you depart

2. Drink a peppermint tea with every meal If possible

3. Do not eat at restaurants in the main touristy area and make sure you’re eating regular, small meals

4. Always use bottle water instead of drinking from the tap. This includes ice cubes in drinks, washing fruit and veggies and/or brushing your teeth

5. Take 1-2 activated charcoal pills before drinking alcohol ( I’m not a doctor so be sure to consult yours first, but I swear by this)

6. Don’t forget to sleep!

7. Drink electrolytes as often as possible

8. Bring snacks you know you can eat

9. Carry change in the local currency in case you cannot find a free bathroom. Many places will let you use theirs for a fee

10. Always come prepared- whether that means pepto, gravol, immodium, gaviscon or anything else you may need. It may not always be available in the country you are in

11. Don’t test out the “ this usually hurts my stomach but maybe it won’t today” method 😂 Im just as guilty as the next guy on this one, but the last thing you want is to feel like crap on your trip!

How do you feel about solo travel? What do or don’t you like about it?

Three of the top reasons I love to travel alone:

*I love the freedom that comes with travelling solo. You can change your plans list minute, you can make no plans and fly by the seat of your pants, you can meet people or hang out by yourself. You get to be completely selfish about what you want and how you want to spend your time.

* It gets you out of your comfort zone. It allows you to be present, not dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. You have to rely on yourself to get out of tricky situations or into fun ones! You have the opportunity to learn more about your strengths and weaknesses and embrace the trust you have in yourself

* Travelling alone gives you a new perspective. It changes the way you view yourself, the people in your life and the world around you. It forces you to put yourself out there, immerse yourself in new cultures and meet people from all walks of life. It opens your eyes to a whole new world and makes you reflect on the one you have back at home.

A little more than a month after pausing the measure, the Public Health Agency of Canada announced today it will be re-implementing random COVID testing for fully vaccinated air travellers arriving into the country at four major Canadian airports: Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal and Toronto.

If you’ve been on any social media lately or watched any news channel, you’ve likely seen the chaos in airports with lost luggage.

A great tip I’ve recently come across to ensure you know where you’re luggage is, even if the airline doesn’t, is to add an Apple AirTag into your suitcase!

If you’re unfamiliar with AirTags, it’s a small tracking device designed to help people find personal objects. Once the device is activated it connects to your phone and then you just use the Find My app to locate your items.

You can get AirTags on Apple’s website for a reasonable price!

Monday reminder:

Just because Canada lifted the vaccine mandate, doesn’t mean you can go anywhere in the world!

Different countries have different rules! You are still unable to travel to the US if you are unvaccinated as well as some other countries. Certain countries require antigen tests, while others require PCR.

Some also have quarantine rules and Canada also has quarantine rules to return.

Make sure you do your research or book with your trusted travel agent so we can ensure you have all the right information :)

The Canadian government announced today that, as of June 20, it will suspend vaccination requirements for domestic and outbound travel!

Due to the unique nature of cruise ship travel, vaccination requirements for passengers and crew of cruise ships will continue to remain in effect.

Nevertheless, this is amazing news for the travel industry and for those of you who chose not to get vaccinated.

One of the first things I noticed in Amsterdam was all of the houses that were tilted forward. On the roof of these houses, there is also a hook that appears to act like a pulley system.
As it turns out, these houses are purposely built tilted forward so that when someone is moving furniture, they can use the hook to pull the furniture up to the correct floor without damaging the house!

What a cool concept!
