So I am back from our Gempei War adventure and will continue to post about it for some time. I had the absolute honour to have Daniele Bolelli from History on Fire with us acting as tour historian. Check out his chilling reminder of our place in history.

Today saw the start of the Shimonoseki Festival and we could feel the building excitement as we viewed the Dan-no-ura battlefield and the end of the Gempei war. We took in the view from the Hinoyama Roadway (closing thus year), Mimosusogawa Park, and Heike no Ippai-Mizu… As a side bar we visited Ganryujima
where the duel between Miyamoto Musashi & Sasaki Kojiro took place…

I was informed of the passing of a D&D great today. James Ward was best known for Gamma World, but his work on the beginnings of Dungeons and Dragons history should not be understated.. I had the great pleasure of meeting and gaming with him in Lake Geneva. He was an amazing DM - funny and and easily able to adapt to the hilarious adventure that ensued… May the gods take you in, sit at your table and know adventure…
