When exploring mosques, it's important to respect the country's culture. That means modest attire—covering shoulders and knees and wearing a headscarf. During this trip, I always carried a scarf with me so I could cover up when needed!

Day 5 of our Viking Ocean Cruise in Crete turned out to be the absolute highlight of our journey.

Our adventure kicked off with a scenic drive through the heart of rural Crete, leading us to the ancient Minoan Palace of Phaistos. Perched atop a hill with views of the sprawling Messara plain, the well-preserved ruins transported us back in time to the Bronze Age.

After our archaeological exploration, we made our way to a family-run winery, where we sampled ancient Cretan varietals and modern wines.

Yet, the real highlight awaited us at the 19th-century farmhouse, lovingly restored to its former glory.

The food, prepared by his mama and brother, was simply out of this world! We love immersing ourselves in local culture, and this excursion offered by Viking was an incredible opportunity to do just that.

I’m now back from an incredible journey aboard the Viking Saturn from Istanbul to Athens, and let me tell you, it was fantastic! We kicked things off in style with premium business class flights direct from Toronto. Talk about starting off on the right foot! Arriving early in Istanbul allowed us to indulge in some extra sightseeing and steer clear of any potential delays. It's a travel hack I always recommend to my clients – arriving a day early for any cruise is a must!🥰

One of the first things we did was check out Istanbul's famed Spice Market... the smells, the tastes, and everything else. It's an experience like no other, but if you don't want to buy, avoid making eye contact!👀

Day 5 of our Viking Ocean Cruise in CRETE. Our amazing host for a lunch at his country house!!

It was the most wonderful day and the best food, all cooked by his mama and brother. This was the HIGHLIGHT of our entire trip, such an incredible experience!

Immersed in history and beauty at Istanbul's mosques! The Yeni Camii, also called the New Mosque, took over 60 years to build, starting in the late 1500s. Seriously stunning - photos don't do it justice! Then, I was captivated by the intricate tile work at the Rustem Pasha Mosque, built by the famed architect Mimar Sinan in the mid-1500s.

When visiting mosques, remember that respectful attire is customary for women. It's a small gesture that shows respect for the culture!
