Here's a flashback to 2014-2017 when we slowly renovated our basement to turn it into a functional Airbnb!

It took so long because we were both working full-time jobs, just had our twins Alice and Ben, and also did all the work ourselves (with a little help from relatives!)

This is really what kicked off our journey into REI and growing our business.

Packing for your next winter getaway? Check the weather so you know what you're in for.

We are always bummed when we get calls from guests asking if we have extra boots or coats at the cottage because they left the city in their sneakers and didn't realize it would be so COLD or there would be SO MUCH snow or weatness etc.

Especially if you're driving, it's ok to overpack so you are prepared for anything and can just relax!

Here are a few essential items to include (from past guest blunders):

Insulated Waterproof Boots: Keep your feet warm and dry with boots that offer insulation and waterproofing.

Extra Clothes for Layering: Comfy sweaters for snuggling and keeping warm if your coat "looks cute" but isn't good for much else. Also, opt for a combination of lightweight tops and fleece layers. This approach allows you to adjust to varying temperatures and activities.

Cold-Weather Accessories: Protect extremities with insulated gloves, a beanie, and a scarf.

Dry Firewood and Firestarters: It's not always provided or, depending on the weather, may have gotten wet, making it hard to start a fire. If you bring a bit of wood or some firestarters, you'll be able to get a great fire going sooner and stress-free.
