Practice safe hiking habits, and always be prepared to run into wildlife.

Check out the link posted by Alberta Parks on how to handle an encounter with coyotes, cougars, or wolves in our parks.

We share our parks with many different animals, including coyotes, cougars and wolves. While these animals avoid human encounters, it’s important to know what to do if you see one.

✔️ Keep children close. Hold their hand or pick them up.
✔️ Maintain eye contact with the animal. Don’t run or turn your back. Running can trigger the animal to chase.
✔️ Back away slowly and leave space for the animal to escape.
