The Monastery of Mor Gabriel ( DeyrulZafaran Manastırı in Turkish) is the oldest surviving Syriac Orthodox monastery in the world! This historic landmark was established in 397 A.D. in Mardin, a beautiful district in the southeast corner of Turkey, and is governed by the Saint Gabriel Church, Church of the Virgin Mary, and Church of the Forty Martyrs of Sebaste!
