Day 15 for us.. Day 17 and 18 of schedule
I woke up today at the beautiful Azouzetta Lake campground (no services here but you are on a mountain), a beautiful sunny day, we sat at the motor home table and looked out to see a bear sauntering through the campground! Always love seeing wildlife, but was happy I was inside and he was out! The drive through the south part of the Pine Pass and around MacKenzie Junction had tons of wildflowers in the ditches. We made a quick stop in Prince George to refuel the motor home and continued down to Quesnel. Another nice campground at Robert’s Roost. Had the chance to get a few aerial photos of these places too.

Day 14 for us… day 15 & 16 on the plan… well this was a Fun Day! Decided to leave the motor home in Chetwynd for the day and went to Tumbler Ridge to do a Wild River Adventures boat trip to Monkman Falls! Saw a really nice looking moose along the way but I was driving and unable to get a photo. The boat trip was amazing! And the bbq lunch was super tasty! After we got back to Chetwynd we got travelled down the Pine Pass to Azouzetta Lake to camp for the night… a beautiful campground with beautiful scenery!

Day 13 for us and continuing the alternative plan. Took some time in Ft St John, gave the motor home a bath and another little repair to the motor home hoping that it will help our refrigerator, then off down the highway to Hudson Hope and a tour at the WAC Bennett hydro dam. After the dam tour we continued in our way to Chetwynd.

Day 12 for us and Day 14 with changes to the itinerary! We started out from Peace River dropping off copies of the magazine in lots of places, Peace River, Grimshaw, Fairview, DUNVEGAN (I love that place in the Peace River valley), Spirit River, Baytree (diesel & ice cream), Dawson Creek and then to the farm by Ft St John! Had a wonderful visit with hubby’s uncle and aunt! Visiting with them is a special time each time we are in the area!

Day 11 for us, remainder of Day 13
Happy Canada Day!! 🇨🇦 🏕️🎈🍔🌭🍦🎂
It started out rainy but turned pretty nice! We didn’t drive far today as we stopped in McLennan and took in some of their Canada Day activities at the museum with food and live music! Continued on our way stopping in Falher and Nampa (great Canada Day cupcakes!) and then to our old stomping ground of Peace River. Our spot for the night is at the great campground RendezVous!! There were lots of activities going on here in Peace River today too!
I love that people love celebrating our country! We watched some people along the way who were obviously new to our country but were trying to figure out what every one was doing and trying to fit in with their Canada Day t-shirts and flags!
🇨🇦 Oh CANADA the true north strong and free! 🇨🇦

Day 10 for us and Day 12 and part of 13 of route plan
Things were getting set up on the stage and other things for the River Rat festival in Athabasca as we were getting ready to get back on the road. We headed for Slave Lake and there were events happening all along the lake. Spruce Point rodeo was on and then around the lake at Shaw’s Point they had Canada Day festivities on too! We stayed at Shaw’s Point overnight, we lucked out on a site as the park was busy! Sorry there’s no photos but I had a disaster with my phone that I was taking pictures with! ☹️

Day 9 for us and days 10 and 11 of the plan… too bad the hubby hurt his shoulder this spring so we couldn’t go golfing at Northern Meadows (there’s always next year)! On to Cold Lake where we did some laundry and checked out a couple of things at the local Can Tire. Things are ramping up all over for Canada Day celebrations! After a few hours in Cold Lake we headed down the highway again, through Lac La Biche (the beach area there has been greatly improved and people were taking advantage of the weather!) Ice cream in Grassland and stopped for the night in Athabasca. The River Rat Festival starts tomorrow June 30 and July 1. Have to check out the schedule! The campground is basically full so camping in an overflow area (we’re flexible)!

Day 8 for us and Day 8 & 9 of our plan…. Ok so we are skipping ahead abit. Started the morning at Candle Lake Sandy Bay Prov Park.. which is a beautiful big campground and the beach! Wow! My picture of the beach doesn’t do it justice! I’m including a few pictures from last night’s sunset. Too bad we couldn’t stay there and enjoy! The campsites are big, private and most have electricity. But the lure of the highway was urging us on…. Next up a stop in Prince Albert and then on to the smaller communities of Shellbrook, Canwood, Debden, Big River, Green Lake and Meadow Lake. We finally stopped for the night at the beautiful Northern Meadows Golf course located close to Goodsoil, SK. They have full service RV sites, cabins to rent and a beautiful golf course!

We’re here! Going to check out the activities!

Day 7 - Day 7 of itinerary
Started the day with a little repair to the motor home.. $3.00 in parts (bolts) from the Canadian Tire in Flin Flon, a little bit of time and we were ready to go. Did the usual stops to talk to people and drop off some magazines in different places. The road from Flin Flon, commonly called the Hansen Lake road, is a paved road but doesn’t have many services along the way. It wasn’t busy but I was surprised by the number of cars, trucks with boats and some campers on the highway. There are many lakes accessible from this road along with little unserviced campsites, a few older fishing lodges and the Narrow Hills provincial park. We drove into that one to see what it was like and then continued on to Candle Lake Prov. Park for the night.

Day 6 / Day 5 & 6 of our itinerary
This day actually covered two days of our planned cavalcade.
Started out in Swan River, filling up on fuel and Timmy’s.. 😊 the road ahead has a couple more small communities, Mafeking being on the highway and others just off the highway. Some of the way goes along the side of Lake Winnipegosis and so there are many areas of wetlands. At the end of the lake the highway climbs up to higher ground. We reached The Pas and took some more photos around the town as well as stopped at a couple local stores to stock up on a couple of things. We continued on north up the highway toward Flin Flon. There are so many beautiful little ponds and small lakes. We did stop at Cranberry Portage and their heritage museum. The community has an amazing history and the ladies at the museum are very knowledgeable. A few more kms through an area of where there was a previous forest fire, finally arriving at Flin Flon. The campground is very nice and the staff was friendly and welcoming when we pulled in. I’m loving the long summer evenings, I was walking around after 10:00 and the sun was still up!

Day 5…and Day 3 - Dauphin started out with a misty rain and we had that on and off all day! The campground had a very cute woodpecker entertaining us this morning before we left. 😊 Headed west and then north to Ethelbert, Winnipegosis,up and around to Cowan, Minitonas and stopped for the night at Swan River’s Green Acres campground. Hoping that tomorrow will bring warmer and sunnier weather!

the Maples in the Municipal District of Fairview No. 136 is an ideal spot to host picnics, family gatherings, or be a pit stop for those who want to hike, bike, or play on the playground.

This gorgeous day use area is situated right next to the Peace River and holds great history. Originally an Anglican Mission stood in this area in the 1880’s. Offering a covered picnic area, you will be able to enjoy as many hours as you’d like here. Surrounded by large trees and green grass, this tranquil spot will have you coming back for more visits year after year.

Day 4 of our trip-Day 2 of Route - Today started out after a relaxing breakfast with washing my car in Lundar before we left town… next up Eriksdale’s murals, a lovely park across from street and then a very windy drive! At The Narrows we saw a couple pelicans hiding out from the wind as the lake was full of whitecaps! Saw more pelicans in a sheltered area as well. The wind kept up as we drove to Dauphin Beach and Dauphin Golf Club. Have a nice spot in the Vermilion Park campground in Dauphin for tonight

Day 3 but Day 1 of actual route… left Brandon this morning and ended up in Lundar, MB… the actual route starts on the NW corner of Winnipeg, and takes you up Hwy 6. The MB government seems to have taken down the NWW logo signs ☹️ Going to have to find out about that. Anyway, drove through Grosse Isle, Woodlands, Warren and past St. Laurent (it’s slightly off the highway).

This was a long day of driving across the prairie. People say there is nothing to see but I saw rolling hills, prairie pastures, (should have taken more pictures), large flat agricultural fields and then out of nowhere.. the huge salt lake! Keep in mind that we are still on our way to get to our official starting point but that will be tomorrow’s journey. Abby is such a good traveller!

Well, day 1 for us is a day toward the beginning of the route. We started off with a trip to a welding shop for a repair to our trailer hitch which was pretty important as we tow our car. Drove as far as Gull Lake SK and stayed at a nice little campground in town. Our camping neighbors were a couple from Germany who have been traveling from Toronto, on their way to Calgary to fly home. Passed along NW&W magazine and said the views along the route will be totally different from the prairie views they have seen. Hopefully they will make another trip to Canada to see more of our great country!
